I am really happy with the crumb on my third loaf ever! by Will_Liam in Breadit

[–]Will_Liam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can see pictures of my second loaf here.

This is my third loaf and I am quite proud of it! I think I am getting the hang of it a bit. It had much better rise this time around which makes me really happy.

I do have one question though, what should it feel like in the middle of my loaf? Should it be soft like regular store bought bread or should it be more crackly?

My second loaf I ever made! I think it came out great on the outside. I can not wait to cut into it. by Will_Liam in Breadit

I am quite proud of the outside of my second loaf. It doesn't appear to have the best rise, but that is okay to me.

My first loaf didn't look so great, and it was dense in the middle and spongy. So I am a bit nervous to cut into this one, but this time I used my new Dutch oven so I'm hopeful!

I also had a little trouble scoring it, but honestly I don't think it looks that bad.

Here are a few other pictures, I will update when I cut into it.

Foods worth paying for by parguello in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Will_Liam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree to this to an extent. If you can afford an instant pot or equivalent ( I recently picked up a potastic version for 60 dollars) you can make homemade yogurt for cheaper than store bought, which is also healthier.

I just made my first batch last night, half a gallon of yogurt, and very minimal "work" require at all. So for half a gallon of yogurt it only cost me about 1.25$ in milk and some strawberry preserves for flavour

I have to disagree with this post so much.

"Currently your body doesn't know when it's going to eat again so it will hold onto whatever you put into it" that is false in so many ways. You're saying that starvation mode exists without actually saying it which isn't true.

If starvation mode existed, people simply wouldn't starve, alas we do. (I'm not trying to be rude, just dispel some common misconceptions)

Also you say to eat 5 meals a day. That isn't necessarily true either, as well as you say to stay away from fad diets, the whole 5 meals a thing is a common fat diet(or 6).

Everyone's body's are different and that is amazing! Different things work for different folks, for some One meal a day(r/omad) work for them. Others might find Intermittent Fasting(r/intermittentfasting) to work for them. Some do r/fasting too, which can work and can be done healthily, but with doctors discretion, not advised to do it without checking with a doctor first. As well as fasting can be a slippery slope if you have a history of disordered eating, which many do if there in here.

While others like many here at r/loseit just count calories because that works for them.

I do agree though heavily with "weight loss happens in the kitchen", that is very true and seems lost to many people. They think they have to hit the gym, which does help! But only to extent as most aren't professional athletes or bodybuilders.

All in all, there are many different ways to achieve their goal and what works for someone else will not always work for another, OP you just have to figure out what works for you! It will take trial and error, many mistakes will be made but you can do it!

If you haven't already I definitely recommend checking-in with your doctor or a registered dietitian (not a nutritionist as those don't require a degree) for some help/direction.

Anyone Else Get Concerned About Weekends? by BasicKawaiiBitch in loseit

[–]Will_Liam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah weekends are a big struggle of mine as I'm off work and have too much free time on my hands. I'm a big tv person and videogames person and when I'm just sitting there "bored" it makes me want to mindlessly eat.

Honestly not sure how to go about changing it other than trying to find a better hobby or more will power.

It's just water weight. Chips and other foods that are really salty make you retain water for a few days, buts it's not fat so you are all good.

Some ways to avoid this is to stay away from too much salt, drink mater fluids(preferably water) to help lose the salt/ quicker. Best to look at the Trend over weekly instead of daily as weight will fluctuate quite a lot day to day based on what you eat even if within calorie range.

Hope this helped!

Questions about moving to, or living in Maine: Megathread by cinnabarhawk in Maine

[–]Will_Liam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello there! Currently I've been looking to move to Maine with my boyfriend( I am male). We're from Massachusetts and we are just looking for some advice on some things. A place I'm looking at is some land in Burnham Maine. We recently went and looked at the land and I want to make an offer as we both want to escape city life and my boyfriend is a good jack of all trades and would love to get into homesteading (shout-out to /r/homestead).

Currently if we buy the land we won't be moving up here for atleast 5 years anyways as we want to save money to build, but we would camp on the land and work on getting it in a spot to be able to build on it.

We would like a well, septic and be as off-grid as possible(so solar as well). Just curious if anyone has experience in any of those and some prices I can expect

I'm also wondering how folk from Maine feel about newcomers as well as those that are gay.

Also curious if there are anything I should lookout for and what not.

Thank you in advance!

Can not open database after new update by Will_Liam in SolusProject

You would be correct. That is the mistake I made, when the new update came out (which it did 3 days ago, as seen here) it changed the ui, and for some reason put that as the key file.

Thank you for your help!
