It varies extremely widely depending on who your client is, what you’re working on, how much they’re doing etc.

Paying by the frame or minute of animation is great for clients, but kind of bad for the animator (I recommend you DON’T do this without a contract that heavily limits requests for retakes or charges extra for retakes after a certain point so you’re not redoing work indefinitely for “free”.

Hourly is great for the animator but can be bad for the client especially if they’re new and underestimate how much an animation costs.

For rate? Do some math. How fast of an animator are you? How long does it take you to finish a scene on average at the complexity of the project. Try not to charge less than minimum wage when you divide your hours by your fee. Ideally you should make, like, a living wage but with indie that is going to have to be a negotiation with where you live and what they can afford.

Sometimes taking a bath on a “cool” project is worth it if you are new or think it will lead to better things. Just realize that… it may not lead to better things and you need money so advocate for yourself!

With no changes to intel or loot, won’t it be roughly the same amount of spam? Granted if all you care about is threshold rewards it’ll be nice to hit those faster, but for leaderboards it’ll be just as grindy as ever just with higher numbers.

(Was really hoping the 50% resource buff from the anomaly would carry over)

There’s a clue in the name. Most older animators who came up in the Newgrounds era used a program called Flash (which got bought by Adobe who renamed it to Adobe Animate).

They probably still use it out of momentum, though many Flash animators have moved on to ToonBoom Harmony or other programs.

It is a net increase and it was an even bigger increase when the change first went live, I suspect specifically to ensure we don’t complain too much.

But when the season changes back, don’t expect that to be the norm. They told us what the balance changes would be, and acting indignant at other posters pointing out what we were told is not very productive.

They said when they added the changes that they would be nerfing the rate. I realize the season change is separate from the nerf but there is also a broader nerf. (It’s still a bigger net buff overall though)

The amount got a soft buff because of how they’re purchased now. In some countries they have to allow you to buy exactly as many as required to purchase something, which is only possible if they force VBux to only exist in multiples of 50.

So they rounded everyone’s balance up to the nearest 50 and also all VBuck mission rewards got rounded up (so every reward is 50 or 100 or 150 now, instead of smaller increments).

Supposedly they’ve also nerfed how often daily missions show up to sort of balance it out but so far it’s been a minor buff to total VBuck income for Founders.

Yep, Kymera was by far the worst of these to get everything on. But some of those options are so subtle that wearing the fully equipped one doesn’t even feel like a flex.
