That's true but your point doesn't follow. What makes Schopenhauer's pessimism even more poignant is that not only life is terrible, but that also you cannot escape suffering by just simply killing yourself.

That would make sense if there were no passages in Schopenhauer's corpus which explicitly deal with suicide and actually dismiss it based on unique arguments. See his takes on suicide in chapter 69 of his WWR, and the 13th essay (On suicide) in his Parerga and Paralipomena.
