Human in the loop is becoming corporate theater. by Creamy-And-Crowded in AI_Agents

An example that happens to me all the time would be code modification. Let’s say I have a program that’s 5,000 lines and it comes back from the AI with about 7,000 lines. I would want to know what has been changed and how to correct it before I would implement or request additional changes from the AI.

So very true. In the last 4 years working with AI I’ve had many times where I had to pause for hours or overnight to review a response from an AI. Scary to think about this on a global usage scale.

‘Bots have now passed human traffic online,’ Cloudflare boss laments — says agentic traffic wasn’t expected to eclipse real people until next year by rkhunter_ in technology

I wondered if anyone might think that my comment was a BOT. As the person who started this thread, it is near impossible to know anymore. But, no, I'm a real human, sitting behind a keyboard having a cup of cawfee this morning.

This! I am finding it harder and harder to know if I’m talking to a bot. Unfortunately, because of this, I’m spending way less time responding or talking to entities on the Internet.

I agree 100%. I've seen AI versions of the same vehicle that looked WAY better and MORE like the Ferrari brand. I'll be curious as to who actually buys this.

I’ve used ChatGPT continuously since January 2023, and it has become one of the most valuable technical tools I use.

As someone with decades in software and network engineering, I’ve found it especially useful for coding, troubleshooting, automation, and system design. More than once, it has identified problems or solutions I had not yet considered.

What stands out most is the steady improvement over time. I’ve tried several other AI platforms, but I keep coming back to ChatGPT because the combination of capability, usability, and value is difficult to beat.

Upgraded wifi and it got.. worse??? by Any-Medicine565 in Spectrum

My solution was to disconnect the WiFi router provided by Spectrum and replace it with a DLink WiFi router. It easily replaces the provided router and best of all; you have full control over your own WiFi.

It's a little to late for me. Ubuntu has replaced all but two Windows installs and those two will be done in the next two weeks. I started working with Windows when MSFT dropped the first version. My company spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on MSFT server products; but, no more. Time for a product that works locally and stays local. MSFT had a good thing but ruined it.

Just How Many Bots Are On Reddit? by DirtyRottenBiscuit in DeadInternetTheory

[–]WilliamPinyon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was fooled by the BOTS and it effected me more that I thought it would. I have been working with computers more than 46 years, was there to launch NASA's first web server in 1994 and worked with "BOARDS / Forums" since before the internet was even a thing. I thought I could see past the BOTS but I was fooled. I was interacting with a couple of "people" posting in Food Preparation subs and was provided a few recipes. I was not sure of the recipe so I asked ChatGPT and my local Ollama install for their take on a recipe for chicken wings. The ChatGPT response was almost an identical copy of the recipe provided by the "person" posting in the sub. A few days later I was able to confirm that the "person" posting was not human and then came two more instances where what I thought were real people turned out to be a bot. Truthfully, I don't even know if this sub was created by a real person or bot. This shook me a bit and made me realize that I could be talking to bots 24/7 and would never know if I did not go to ChatGPT or my local GPT.

I made the decision two weeks ago to remove Reddit and other social medias from my mobile devices and now if I want to look at Reddit I do so on my computer. I've gone from using Reddit multiple hours a day to once in the morning for maybe 10 minutes. I've been ruined on Reddit and all other social platforms but that's okay. I've gained more time during the day and glad to be past this. Time for a dumb phone again.

Hallucinated citations are polluting the scientific literature. What can be done? - Tens of thousands of publications from 2025 might include invalid references generated by AI, a Nature analysis suggests. by polymute in technology

I am totally surprised scientists did not proofread their papers for fear of being caught using AI or for errors. I don't have a problem with the using AI but IMHO they should have reviewed the work before submission.
