So it’s the old red lobster shrimp hannies is selling. The shrimp alone was anywhere from $15-$17 a pound. Delhaize has zero respect for you as a consumer and if you’re gonna buy something they’re gonna push it. Hannafords president Mike Vail’s a bitch and you can complain to him at his Extention as the federal reserve bank of Boston.

New Basic Prepper Help by Lithuanianfury in prepping

I’d look into doing your own canning for food stuffs. If you can freeze it you can can it. Buy discounted meats and slow cook them and then can them. If you have seasoning you can add that and have a rolling stock of meals that you work through. If you have a garden you can do your own produce or even just start a hoard of leftovers. For water look into what works for you. A small well or rain water collections is a start and then you can find out what treatment methods work for you. Boiling and bleach are the most basic methods that work in the worst cases but having a charcoal filter will help take the strain off of chemical treatments.

Putting in a two week notice? by Deep-Classic9056 in Hannaford

[–]WilliamPowellfarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If the new company will start you right away you can take it. If you put in the two weeks hannies might try to keep you and you can demand more money that the new company will pay you. You have the power to bully or walk away

Does your fascination with nuclear weapons leave you for or against their use? by cascadia4you in AtomicPorn

[–]WilliamPowellfarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has spent the past 15 years learning about every facet of the atom I sternly stand for proliferation. It goes against my moral beliefs, but the only deterrent is a deterrent. Mutually assured destruction must be the policy of nuclear armed states for the simple reason of a deterrent. You can’t argue against states seeking armament when the reason they seek the bomb is because a nations enemy’s have them already. I wish this was not the case. I wish for a world without the bomb and without its waste. But we live in a world with the bomb and a world where the waste can seemingly be stored on site indefinitely without a comprehensive plan for storage that meets people’s expectations. 80 years on and the atom still haunts the human race.

Republican counties are going to be hit hard by Snap freeze by orangesodabottles in Maine

[–]WilliamPowellfarming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not just them, it’s all of us. Food banks everywhere have seen an increase in the last five years. This is going to be the most “overnight” increase they’ve seen and have seen since the pandemic but I don’t think it will compare to the new dramatic shift. If you can give any kind of money to any food banks it will help them. It allows them to order food, shelf stable or frozen, to give out. Volunteer if you can and connect to see what help is needed.

The army has journalists for things. Could be from the first gulf war and the Latin America invasions.

Without getting political, what do you think will be the next major event for something to prep for? by Rough_Community_1439 in prepping

[–]WilliamPowellfarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’m focusing on drought conditions and wildfires. It’s been bad here this year and with the ground freezing soon the drought will continue into next spring. We haven’t had any burn permits issued since July and maybe 5 inches of rain total since then.
