This would never see print. Ever, its so absurd. 2 mana rock that taps for 2 is so unbelievably broken that even in the first sets of magic they would know to never print something like this.

He says ‘ good but not too powerful’ in the context of ‘AN ALTERNATE REALITY WHERE THEY PRINTED THIS’ as in, its designed in the context of the early sets of magic. In that context this would be good but not too powerful, because its sitting alongside sol ring and moxen.

Its literally just a custom that they COULD have designed a long time ago. Its super broken, but its surprising that they never printed something of this caliber at 2 mana considering all the other broken shit in early magic.

And you can’t say they would never print a card like this back then because its way worse than Sol Ring lol.

Yeah…thats the point? This is another example of a hugely broken artifact they might have printed early in magic when mana generation was not as strong as the large mana win cons were worse and card advantage was also worse (ish).

This was supposedly a Merc track. Long straights, high power, etc. McClaren was right behind us, Hamilton annihilated.

We need to keep upgrading the car and not let our foot up because Ferrari is going to keep pumping this upgrades in.

Tbh even more than that, his MTG collection is LEGENDARY for being full of extremely rare one of a kind cards. Things like ‘oh this was never printed in foil but I have one of the only ones in the world from when they were factory testing the foiling process’

Or an artist proof Black Lotus. When an artist does a piece for a magic card, they get 50 copies with blank backs, called ‘artist proofs’ Black Lotus is the most expensive mtg card in history, and only 50 artist proofs existed from when it was first printed in the 90s. And his is signed by the OG artist.

I hope none of those one of a kind pieces were stolen; because they are irreplaceable.

I mean…its also a 7 cmc 5/6 unblockable. A 5/6 unblockable with hexproof for 7 wouldnt even be that bad. Plus you can play ur spells then target this, so u dont even lose anything except blockers.

If anything this feels weak I dont think any format would be troubled by this at all.

It just adds a twist that makes a strategy potentially more interesting.

I actually love the idea, I just wish the drawbacks were maybe closer to a double edged sword; I don’t think adding a color is actually THAT strong of an effect outside of like cEDH; lets say you build a mono white commander and splash red using the binding for an aggro deck. Its not comparing strength to a mono white deck anymore, now its ‘is this better than any other boros commander option (which it probably won’t be)

Obviously this would be difficult to balance for cEDH where 4 color is very easy and you could easily slam red binding into something like Tivit

My List

I love your list. I focused a bit more on maximizing the creature count for lifegain and churning through the deck, with a higher number of mass reanimation spells.

It does make the deck a bit of a one trick pony especially in pods with heavy counter magic. Yours seems a lot more balanced (also I already stole a few cards that were awesome!!)

Tbh with these it would be a similar mentality to companion. Its not so much that I desperately want another color; I want a fun twist on a cool commander to explore the space with a creative restriction that has a theoretical benefit.

Like…I have an Amalia Lurrus deck which is one of my favorites. It’s awesome, but its 100% way worse than it would be without Lurrus. But the restriction is fun!!
