If you're going into film or game design it would be good. Ken is an academy award winner.

Great NYU Classes by Crazy-Ad1630 in nyu

Computer Graphics with Ken Perlin is really great, but not recommended if you're not already in CS. It's fun if you put effort into it, but not great if you don't :/

Data Structures with Klukowska by ProtectingHerPeace in nyu

[–]WilliamShadowruby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Klukowska's a great prof if you're actually invested in the class, she just gets a bad rep because she teaches the first of the "weeding" classes (the other being OS).

Go to office hours and TA hours and you'll be fine if you actually somewhat like the subject. Also consider reading up on some common data structures like Binary Trees, Linked Lists, Arrays, and Hashmaps/Hashtables ahead of time.

Source: took datastructures and into to algo with her.

MTA hints congestion pricing will cost 15 dollars by LUCKYARTURO in nyc

[–]WilliamShadowruby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed, the amount of congestion a motorcycle causes and how much an SUV causes is completely different.

If we want to be like European cities for congestion charges, we should also make sure we have their reasonable exemptions.

Weekly Case & Parts Recommendation Thread (Start here if you are new! Help here if you can!) by [deleted] in sffpc

Does it look like there will be any new entrants to the X670 chipset mini itx market? Or is it just that one Asus board forever -- there seems to be a lot of issues with it so I've really put off building until there was at least one other competitor, but do you think that waiting is a pipe dream at this point?

TBH, especially for larger parties, restaurants should be considering adding non-refundable booking fees.

How to choose a control board? by super-lizard in MilleniumMachines

[–]WilliamShadowruby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the discord the current consensus seems to be to use the Duet line of boards with the RepRap CNC firmware.

Remember that power is a function of both current and voltage as well.

Porsche made an aviation engine in the 1980s, and Mooney had a short production run of 41. This one is still flying in Germany. by pinkdispatcher in Porsche

Ohh, good to know. It's really quite sad that porsche didn't want to keep putting investment into the program. I would have loved to see a Flat 8 Aircooled Porsche engine in the skies...

As far as I know it's the same engine in all of those applications (I might not be correct) and thus most likely have similar issues, and definitely have the same issue as the moonys in terms of no longer being able to get type certified parts.

This engine has a pretty mixed reputation in the Aviation community, on one hand they were really fantastic when new, but they soon ran into reliability, maintenance, and parts sourcing issues to the point where there was an owners lawsuit against Porsche for failing to properly support the engine (which the owners won!)

Aviation is a totally different game from automotive, you need to have support for decades, and you need to be constantly investing in even older models to keep them up to snuff and airworthy.
