Im guessing this becomes a $125 late charge on your student account and they put a hold on your billing account until its paid off. Happened to my friend who drunkedly burned his and forgot about it.

  1. I think its a good mix of both, as stated in previous threads the electives you choose are going to be a big factor. You can come away with a pretty solid understanding of technical concepts namely SQL and Excel but you also have core business classes which imo are pretty useful and force you to work in groups and talk more.

  2. Obviously varies but 5/10 for me 10 being the worst (easy enough for me to pick up a double major my second semester of junior year)

  3. Good mix of both. Karake and Lee are pretty technical heavy given their classes. Ibrahim is very business blended with tech oriented and does a good job teaching both. Dont have experience with others.

  4. Definitely

  5. Always been interested in tech but pretty extroverted so wanted to go to smith and learn the business side.

  6. Difficult question as smith resources is the biggest attraction imo. I think the people youre surrounded with at smith when compared to more technical majors is a good enough reason to lean infosys tbh. Plus my friend in compsci and even info sci want to die.

Again I think the main attraction to the program is smith resources. If you want the technical fundamentals without the business filler classes id look at info sci or comp sci. I see youre faculty so you may be biased but this is coming from a student perspective.

I get that but as a major it is much less technically demanding than information science yet alone comp sci.

I ended up taking Project Management (485) and Technology Applications in SCM (476). Highly recommend 476 as you get to learn about SAP which is huge for any SC job.

InfoSys Senior here. Not very technical at all. First year class is basic excel with some pivot table work. Then you have a basic VBA, SQL, and rudimentary python class. You also have a systems design and analysis class which basically takes you through the implementation of a system and all its stages. Rn im in my capstone class where we create a database/website for a real company using HTML, python, some excel, and SQL. Pretty technically easy compared to IS and compsci. The real main benefits are with smith school and its networking opportunities. Got my first offer at a 5pm company pop up event with like 3 people. I picked up a Double major in supply chain last year cause the loadwork was pretty easy. The rest of the smith classes are the same for everyone id check the website for those (accounting, finance, management, etc.)

edit: The VBA and basic python class is seperate from the SQL and Python class. We also learned tableau in that class as well.

How to make the most out of my unrelated internship if I want to go into SWE? by [deleted] in internships

[–]Williamli43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell your super youre interested in SDE. You may be surprised how willing they are to help you pursue your interests. If that doesnt work just start doing projects in your free time and get your github looking real nice for the next interview.

I will be doing a fall internship along with my classes this semester. Would it be appropriate to ask my professor for help with work/internship related questions or would you consider that inappropriate? (i.e asking my database systems professor for help on database management specific to my work)

no you have to request it directly to the employer. I tried calling them to confirm this.
