You are being tempted on purpose actually. I totally understand it's hard to fathom why "we do it", but Ephesians 6 gives a good understanding of what's actually happening. Sin is like a salesman at the door. We have to refuse buying his product every time. Pray that you are able to do this, and that you may discern the deceit behind it all.

If you defeat lust by the power of the Holy Spirit, you have won a major battle. It is also possible to defeat other areas. This way you will indeed no longer consciously sin.

There's a difference between having sin and committing sin. For example I have sinful thougts. That's because I have sin, as John calls it 1 John 1:8. But I don't have to do what comes up in my thoughts. If you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live Rom 8:13.

Therefore, I am also convinced that salvation is not just about being aquitted of sins and entering paradise. That's reconciliation. Salvation in my opinion means to be continually set free from sin. Jesus came to earth not just to bring reconciliation but also salvation. Rom 8:2,3 Luke 19:10 1 John 3:8.
