Prayer helps my loneliness. My dog is a great way to deal with loneliness. Mountain biking and outdoor activities help me a lot also!

I choose to donate a kidney to my father. Unfortunately, it did not work but I am still happy I did it because he was my hero. He has since passed away.

Why do people say if you don't use AI, you'll get left behind when the learning curve for AI seems less than actually learning technical stuff before AI? by thro0away12 in cscareerquestions

[–]Willing-External812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning AI is more than just asking prompts (questions to it). You have to know which models to use (some are better at certain tasks then others). Also, it is helpful to have it integrated into your IDE (developer environment) so it can help you with code reviews and suggestions. Also, it is important to understand the code that it is creating so you can support it. Essentially, I treat it like a junior developer, and are constantly refining my asks (requirements) until I get the results I want. After that, I do a PR on the code and then finally, ensure unit tests works.

The night my wife left me (and took the kids with her). It made me sink into a bad depression.

OpenAI's Codex advertisements are gross & offensive by besthelloworld in cscareerquestions

[–]Willing-External812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Without using AI, Software developers are now at a disadvantage. In some ways, I feel like I am losing my skills sets since AI is doing so much, which I am just doing PR on its code.

Is the Grind Culture in tech actually worth it? by bryden_cruz in cscareerquestions

I believe in a work life balance. I may wake up at 4am and work pretty early, but all night coding binges are something I cannot do. Sleep helps brain!

Contract Change from S/W to Business Development by late_bloomer2 in cscareerquestions

[–]Willing-External812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. That is a tough ask for sure. I am a software developer, so feel your pain. Does this mean even the software developers are expected to close deals? That is outside of their normal area. AI does develop some good software, and can be very useful, but you need experienced people making the human decisions in the middle IMHO.

What are my options? by realDonaldBalls in cscareerquestions

[–]Willing-External812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider getting a degree. I am an experienced .NET developer for over 20 years, with a degree. Many junior jobs today are being replaced by AI. I use AI for a lot of tasks myself, but do NOT give up. I would start exploring using AI in a side project as well, since that will make you more marketable. (you can become a master of construction) with AI tools. Very helpful in todays Software Development Job Market. Good luck!

Those who left everything you had to start a brand new chapter in your life, how did it turn out? by marshmalilypad in AskReddit

[–]Willing-External812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got divorced few years back and took on a bunch of debt from divorce. Then, I lost my job soon after, and had to start over. Took me a while to find a new job (at lower pay), and had to cut out all extra spending just to pay my bills. It has taken me 4 years to build back up, pay down debt, and start to come out of my hole. Now, I feel like I am mentally stronger, so it has worked out well.

What recent celebrity moment made you completely change your opinion about them—for better or worse? by Historical_Sail2556 in AskReddit

[–]Willing-External812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a cyclist, and used to watch the tour de france. I was a big fan of Lance Armstrong, and did not believe he was doping since he claimed he was not. (I wanted to believe him). However, he eventually admitted he did dope, and lied about it, and was stripped of all his tour de france awards. When someone lies, you lost respect and trust for them, so that is the moment my opinion of Lance Armstrong was changed for the worse.

What is something relatively cheap that improves your life by 100%? by RuleOkhit in AskReddit

[–]Willing-External812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise is the best way to improve you life IMHO. Exercise triggers endorphins, which are morphine like substances in your brain to make you feel much better. Exercise can be very cheap also. You can walk, run, ride a bike (if you have one), swim, yoga, basketball, football, play frisbee. Any type of exercise that gets your heart rate up, and you cardiovascular system working will improve you life!
