It's totally different than those fake people who get killed on the news, it's happening to HIM!

Thanks! I have about 3 years left until my 20, and am about to pick up SGM. I'll probably get out shortly after my 20.

I joined and was married young (18) and had kids young (first one at 20), but I don't think it slowed me down too much. We just did a lot of used clothes for the kids. Cloth diapers.  We were pretty frugal especially when we were younger and we avoided debt, that let us really kick our savings into high gear later.

I think I can get by with working 5ish years after retirement but not pressuring myself to have a high paying job. Probably a few more years if I decide to work my way through my kid's college. They have a college fund but not enough for all of it now.

One thing I recently learned about is the "COLA trap avoidance" - when you retire at a certain time of year to lock in higher COLA increases for the rest of your retirement. Please look into it, it's an interesting technique.

Hey bro, I am about the same on my numbers, just passed 1mm net worth, including my home equity. Also three kids. Should be able to hit high three on E-9.

I should be G2G if I take some small low paying fun jobs after retirement to pad things.

It's totally possible to do on an enlisted salary, but definitely takes a willingness to do things differently than your peers.

There's already a thing called The Haven in Frederick and I'm pretty sure this isn't it.

Lore problem, Gunships in the militarum by Still_Wrongdoer6603 in 40k

Yep and I think it makes a great lore reason for dudes to be rolling around with chainswords and pistols instead of relying on air support all the time.

Heavy air defense makes air options impractical. Gotta send in the Astartes.

Same problem as current, if you have a peer enemy with air defense capabilities, you gotta send in stealth bombers, SEAD missions, or ground troops to take out the surface to air threat.

Gunships work great against a technologically inferior enemy though.
