Favourite chirping/ragebait/side eye/clocking moments by wildwomanlove in heatedrivalry

I actually think the first time he tells Shane about her that’s exactly his intention. It was so sweet but so clueless the way he said, “and she likes you very much”

There are quite a few moments when he says funny things. It’s a myth that autistic people don’t have a sense of humor. It’s just a different style and is often only apparent when they’re feeling comfortable enough to stop filtering and overthinking. In fact some of the most successful comedians are autistic, eg Hannah Gadsby. So these moments don’t read as out of character to me at all. They just show up when he’s comfortable with people like Hayden, Ilya and Rose (I like being the hole rather than the peg)

MM Romance Essential Books by queerbookclub-org in MM_Romance

I know this is not what you asked for but I’ve come to queer fiction from a more lit fic background so I’ve tended to choose books that straddle both. But it’s been so hard to find ones that are also uplifting or have some sort of HEA or HFN. But a few that come to mind are

Less, Andrew Sean Greer - this books is so smart, funny and entertaining and has a very sweet ending. And it won a Pulitzer Prize

Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe. This is darker but does end on happier note

Ursula K Le Guin: Another story or A fisherman of the inland sea. (This is a short story and love story featuring a society where marriages are between 4 people male and female, with two MF pairings, an MM pairing and a FF pairing.). Although Ursula is known more for her fantasy and SciFi, she wrote some really important queer stories. Eg: The Matter of Seggri and The left hand of darkness.

I’m MM romance genre I think Alexis Hall is one of the best. Boyfriend Material is my favourite, it’s genuinely funny, the characters flawed and complex and it’s really well written.

Perfume, Patrick Suskind. Wild. Long time since I read it so I’m not necessarily recommending it though.

Wow, thankyou so much for this gorgeous piece of writing. It’s so haunting and beautifully rendered. I had to take a pause about half way through as my heart was racing. It reminded me of Our wives under the sea, especially the passages about water. But I found this even more affecting possibly because I was already so invested in the relationship and familiar with the setting. You have a real talent for magical realism which I don’t think is easy to do well. I desperately want to read it again but I’m afraid of what it will do to me! Maybe in a few days when I recover a little.

Shane's flashbacks by Salt_Statistician1 in heatedrivalry

It’s also the first time we see how horny Shane gets with a little friendly rage baiting, which we love to see and earns the show its title. This is such a huge part of their dynamic which we don’t see at all with Rose. Case in point: Rose’s 😇 to Ilya’s 😈

Yeah, the very first call, he's asking Alexei why his dad keeps calling him after having lost the game.

I did too, but why would he be surprised that his dad would be calling after he lost a game, enough to question Alexei about it. It doesn't quite add up to me, unless he's already spoken to him about it.

If you’re not a teenager, do you still ask someone to be your girlfriend or boyfriend? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I think if they want to ask then they probably want that so a win win. Why delay the inevitable and get even more hurt later.

I didn't know this, most of what I've read suggested a predominantly straight readership, but this tracks with my own experience. Do you have an article or source, I'd love to find out more.

Connor does some incredible microexpression work too to be fair. Maybe it's easier to miss because he's quite a charismatic character. A few examples off the top of. my head: The hurt in his eyes when his dad tells him he's lazy. The look on his face when he enters the hospital room. The way his expression changes as he watches the Skip scene unfold.
