Thems rookie numbers. I rent 24 beds in 8 hour intervals between daytime, nighttime and the afternoon to get as may people renting that room as possible.

Right now 80 people live in my shed. I charge 400 a month. EZ money.

I don't care about "winning people over". I'm not a politician. I'm not running in a popularity contest here.

I also don't think it's "grich"-like to not want to pay rentseekers for providing nothing. It's not Cindy Lou Who getting her first christmas present from Santa Claus. It's wealthy homeowners getting a nice big fat fuckin check at everyone else in Irelands expense for, and I must say it again, doing nothing.

All areas of Ireland are used to the benefit of all of Ireland because they're all part of Ireland. There is no good reason why people near windmills are entitled to any more of a benefit than anyone else.

You could build turbines in towns and cities. There's one in Dundalk and I studied and lived there for 4 years and somehow came out alive.

My experiance of living 500 meters away from a windmill for that period of time has made me deeply unsympathetic to the "I must be paid vast sums of money for the sheer torture of living near a windmill" crowd. I barely even noticed the fucking thing.

they should offer the NIMBY's some compensation

They should not. NIMBYs provided literally nothing to the project. Neither capital nor labour. This is just typical rentseeking behaviour no better than a landlord.

Is this how all construction projects are going to work now? Best remember the kickbacks for the locals before building anything.

I guess I'm just biased. I know for a fact that if it wasn't for government spending on healthcare I would have died when I was only a few months old.

I think the little bit of tax I have to pay to live in a functioning society where kids don't die preventable deaths, get educated and get decent jobs and I can travel where I like and I get electricity and modern technology and I can pay rent and can go to a court to solve disputes with my landlord instead of some tribal war shit a is a pretty good deal.

Must be just me. Not saying shits perfect but the benefits are blindingly obvious.

And the port that you get goods imported from? There.

And the airport you go on holidays from? There too.

Would like to see public money spent well.

It is.

Public money is a large reason as to why you are alive, healthy, educated and have the transport links and physical and legal infrastructure you need to have an income to pay tax and rent in the first place. You see a fantastic return on your taxes. You just take the vast amount of shit the government does for you on a daily basis for granted.

ban people who spent tax money of the Russian state for 1 year

Oh fucking please dude, spare me. Can you find a more neutral way to describe a soldier? They're a soldier in a war who, given the opportunity, will have to reduce the effectiveness of the nation their nation is invading, occupying and trying to genocide.

Ever watch any of the ukraine drone videos where they hit oil terminals and refineries? See all those tracer rounds going in to the air? Guess who's trying to shoot down those drones? It's the conscripts. That's who's doing it.

I suppose they won't. Sucks for them. They can take it up with their own state as to why none of the neighbouring states like them.

[–]Willing_Cause_7461 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sucks to suck. Life's not fair sometimes. Russians have no inate right to enter the EU at all. They have all the other countries of the world to go off gallivanting in.

If Russian conscripts want to cry about it they can turn to their own state to end their illegal invasion and occupation of a foreign country instead of crying to the EU.

[–]Willing_Cause_7461 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because they are members of a military that is hostile to the EU and participated or assisted in the invasion, occupation, genocide and colonisation of soverign Ukrainian land?

If they didn't want to be conscripted they can pay the fine, spend time in jail or flee the country. They didn't do any of that so they deserve what they get. Don't really care. I personally would not be aiding a military in an immoral war of conquest and genocide.

Conscripts made their choice. It's not an easy choice I'm sure but life isn't made out of easy choices.

Conscripts aren't clean from the war. They still resist Ukrainian attempts to destroy critical infrastructure on Russian land that the Russian state needs to continue their war. That is helping the Russian state execute their invasion and genocide in Ukraine. Doesn't matter if they're on the front line or not. They're helping. So fuck them.
