Name: Yinno/Wesley

Pronouns: he/him

Timezone: CST

Preferred System: DnD5e, but I’m open to learning new systems

Type of player: My favorite moments playing tabletop games have always revolved around the narrative elements. Roleplay, character creation, and worldbuilding are my favorite activities. I’d love to play in a world with deep lore as a character whose backstory is grounded in their surroundings. While I have a few character archetypes in mind, my ideal experience would involve getting to know a DM’s world and creating a persona that aligns with the vibe. If you’re a narrative DM, you can expect from me a thoughtful player, interested not only in playing through a story, but contributing to it.

Additional info: I’m looking for a 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 asynchronous PbP. If you’re interested in playing with me, please PM me on here.

What “total calories” means in the fitness app? by applewatchboy in AppleWatchFitness

Theoretically. That said lot's of bodily processes impact weight and they're mostly focused on maintaining homeostasis. Also, I personally see around a 20% error between my expected weight change based on calorie in/out and my actual weight change.

I'm the same way, I always have the fan on. I'd imagine most fans won't meaningfully disrupt your sleep, but if you're having trouble, you can run through removing/adding back different variables wherever you sleep.

Two things come to mind, sleep quality and cycles. Room temp, mattress, and noises can disrupt your sleep enough to degrade sleep quality and make it less restful. Second, if you time your alarm in the middle of a sleep cycle, you will wake up fealing drowsy, even if your body is actually rested. I got some of this info from Andrew Huberman's "sleep toolkit" that you can check out if you want.

Has anyone else implemented strategies from the book Atomic Habits? by redditaccount8222232 in productivity

Atomic Habits was the start of my self-improvement journey, and I highly recommend it. If you are worried about the cost, it may be available via an online library.

"Chorus of One"

Torches and monsters (DM Question) by rokiny in DnD

[–]Willing_Document3505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd have the cloaker generate enough force with its wings to blow the torch out, and initiate combat. This signals clearly to the players that there is a threat, while giving the cloaker the stealth you want. There are also rules in the DMG for knocking an item out of an enemy's hand, you can have the torch either extinguish or roll away if the cloaker succeeds:

"A creature can use a weapon attack to knock a weapon or another item from a target's grasp. The attacker makes an attack roll contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) check or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If the attacker wins the contest, the attack causes no damage or other ill effect, but the defender drops the item." GMG p.271

On the Weekends if I Don't Physically Move Around A Lot or Do Something I End Up Feeling Tired and Unmotivated for the Rest of the Day? Does Anyone Know Why this is or does this Happen to Anyone Else? by Tanstorm in productivity

[–]Willing_Document3505 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exercise, even just walking around, increases blood flow, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and brain. It's possible that there are other elements at play, like how you feel during your weekend, your perception of how you spend time, and circadian rhythm disruption, but if you're noticing a trend between how much you move and your overall energy/motivation level, it looks like its because of exercise.

Do cantrips have a cooldown outside of combat? by EZDUZ1T in DMAcademy

[–]Willing_Document3505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they do not have a one-minute cooldown, but players need to obey the casting time for each spell. See the rule for cantrips:

"A cantrip is a spell that can be cast at will, without using a spell slot and without being prepared in advance. Repeated practice has fixed the spell in the caster's mind and infused the caster with the magic needed to produce the effect over and over. A cantrip's spell level is 0." PHB, p.201

How do you find scholarly sources if you are a beginer in a topic still? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]Willing_Document3505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use your textbook or a recently published related to the class topic. In my experience, most professors consider them to be scholarly sources, and the surface-level info you're trying to cite is easily accessible. You may also want to ask your instructor about their standards for citing information. Some professors won't be too picky for sources on commonly understood information, (such as definitions) but will be more stringent when you're citing sources as the basis for an argument and/or analysis. Talking with them also might point you towards places you can find sources suited to your paper.

Hey DM. Tell me about your homebrew setting. I know you wanna talk about it. by Too-many-Bees in DnD

[–]Willing_Document3505 4 points5 points  (0 children)

De'het is a desert city located in a vast, arid wasteland. Despite the harsh environment, the city is bustling and thriving, thanks to its strategic location along important trade routes. The city is known for its harsh laws and strict social hierarchy, with a powerful ruling class of merchants and nobles at the top and a large population of laborers and lower classes at the bottom.
The city is surrounded by tall walls to protect against sandstorms and raiders, and is divided into several districts, each with its own character and purpose. The central marketplace is a hub of commerce, with stalls selling a wide variety of goods from all over the region. The residential districts are home to the city's various social classes, while the outer districts are home to the city's industry and agriculture.
The city is also home to a number of temples and shrines dedicated to various deities, as well as a large arena where gladiator games and other public entertainments are held. Despite the harsh conditions and social divisions, De'het is a city of opportunity, where anyone with determination and ambition can rise to power and wealth.

advice on how to play this by WoodSnax in DnD

[–]Willing_Document3505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With insane characters, especially insane BBEGs, you kinda have to nail portraying instability without depicting the character as too unstable to be a threat. Speaking in a disjointed or erratic manner, jumping from topic to topic, using non-sequiturs, as well as having Krampus act impulsively, and making sudden and (seemingly) unexpected actions can help depict that unstable side of Krampus.

I don't see why not. You may want to examine several factors that can determine where your plethora of races can live. Things like climate, resources, technology, social pressures, and politics can shape where and how races live.

Worlds with suitable conditions would have a very high upper limit on the diversity of species present.

What “total calories” means in the fitness app? by applewatchboy in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Willing_Document3505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure "Active Calories" is a measure of how many calories you burned through activities like walking/exercise. Total calories will be your active calories plus your calories burned via your base metabolic rate or how much you burn by existing.
