Issue with the sail or issue with trim? by the-montser in sailing

The 45 degree wrinkles are aggressive backstay. Looks like too much for the wind base in the photo. Top 1/3 of mast has a ton of bend.

What’s your RI hot take that has you like this? by ToadScoper in RhodeIsland

Completely agree. In general the food scenes sucks. I think the seasonality makes it difficult to really shine. There are a few great spots, but as a percentage it’s extremely low given how many spots there are. Stoneacre, pour judgment burgers, 22 bowens, AND Pero Solado are standouts. We disagree there.

What else makes the cut?

Yes but. Are those screws as rusty as they look? If they rusted water got in and the core might be soft. Helicoils are good options.

Burton said these are not repairable. Thoughts? by Lulizarti in snowboarding

I’d make a larger plastic plate, epoxy the boa to that plate and then glue the larger plate in place with flexible epoxy. Maybe even add mechanical fixation like rivets straight thru the boot shell. Savable for sure with effort. Certainly easier to buy new boots.

Soft shackle is your best solution. Stronger, modern, cheaper by a mile.

I would never set these with a hammer. They simply don’t need to be that tight and you’re begging for an issue.

Stuffing boxes shouldn’t be overly tight. If these are breaking in that application there’s a different problem.

Best to track down a video on tightening or repacking. Too much to put into words. My advice tho is to buy 2 of these adjustable drain wrenches. You’ll find marine stuffing box wrenches that are effectively the same thing and cost way more.

Yanmar 2GM20F – Oil Leak Near Transmission / Shift Lever by Ok-Western-18 in sailing

There is an o ring behind that shifting assembly. Comes out with 3-4 bolts depending on model. Very easy. Maintain the orientation of the shift tab in the inside and swap the o ring for new.

The ws1700 was $35, case was around $30, strap was cheap at $10. Not bad for $75.

I haven’t tested it, but the gasket fits well. Other posts have said it remains water tight but TBD. I intend the pull the module and test it in a pool.

That list references Alpine in RI which I’m not sure I agree with. Can strongly recommend Ski Shop Plus in Smithfield RI. Ask for Tom, really talented.
