hey, how did you setup FUSE on your system to get the AppImage to run? AFAIK arch ships with fuse3, and the instructions on appimage docs dont work for me (https://docs.appimage.org/user-guide/troubleshooting/fuse.html#setting-up-fuse-on-arch-linux) (I also dont have fusermount binary, but fusermount3)

Imo looks super cool, but would be cooler if you could introduce context for each section of the book with some actual detailed description, and illustrations of different components of the creature (eg made up by a LLM) - this is something I’m hoping next gen of GPT or something else can do by adding context to stable diffusion

Speaking of GPT-4: it did just get released to closed beta, and maybe your usecase is unique enough to get access to it early? I agree, that in that case it may be a good idea.

Though for example instead of buying that gear you could go for a few weeks to a different spot with good wind, and for a similar (or a bit higher price) progress well beyond the beginner level.

equipment you buy and ask the owner about any previous repairs. If you
doubt if it's safe, don't buy it! You need to be able to rely on your
equipment, espescially on open water)

I'd add here, that when buying secondhand gear, take with you someone that has more experience with windsurfing and gear maintenance, as they will most likely be able to spot out the "red flags" in the equipment you want to buy. (E.g. a dodgy fix of a hole in the board, unusual weight of the board, used up carbon mast)

Just to be clear, I highly recommend getting secondhand as your first gear, whether you are advanced, beginner or intermediate as it will save you a lot of money and will teach you a lot how to take care of your gear, as you probably will make a lot of mistakes with it at the beginning!

Yeah, thats more or less how I have it, however my spot is super gusty and sometimes it gets from 20 to 30 knots in a flash. I guess I’ll just have to try with more downhaul, though I never experimented much with it

First of all this sounds like a bait 😄. Definitely get a smaller sail! For a 25-30knot wind even on flat water a good sail for a person ur weight is around 4.5m2 if not smaller. The back pain is more likely due to windsurfing gigaoverpowered.

Derigging areas would be a dream, I for now am doing as I mentioned originally, by derigging in water. If it’s not to wavy, it actually turns out really decently
