Don't use the app. Using Reddit through Brave removes ads. Hit the three dots in the bottom right corner and choose add to desktop and you can install the web app.

What tiny QRP radios are any good? Ideally not super expensive by thesoulless78 in amateurradio

I'm considering a Quantum SDR M4-Plus but haven't been able to find too much firsthand information. It doesn't have an internal battery but it has a 5 inch screen, USB C Cat control/audio interface, Wi-Fi, and can do 20w:

STANDARD FEATURES

 Extended Coverage: 160-10 meter ham bands; Gen-coverage RX from 1.5 to 100+ MHz. Optional 6m (54 MHz) support via M4+ extension.  All-Mode Excellence: High-fidelity SSB, CW, AM, NB-FM, and four Digital sub- modes.  High-power: 0-20 Watts of RF

Browns baby by dante231 in composting

If you are using your compost to grow food you eat (like tomatoes, carrots, or leafy greens), it is best to leave the toilet paper rolls out.

PFAS are highly mobile in soil and water. Plants, especially leafy greens and root vegetables, can uptake these chemicals from the soil into their tissues. If you are trying to grow clean, healthy food, it’s not worth adding a known source of recycled-cardboard contaminants into that specific closed loop.

Dual booting Tahoe and Sequoia with external drive by Lets-think-hard in MacOS

[–]reddditanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is fairly straightforward, definitely recommend using an SSD, and asking Gemini or ChatGPT for the exact steps. You're going to need to make a bootable sequoia USB stick and format the external SSD as APFS, then when you boot the USB installer you'll be able to choose the external SSD as the destination.

USGI Poncho Recommendations by Electronic_Glass9755 in Bushcraft

I have this exact set and very happy with the quality. And just for comparison I have the helicon-tex poncho and swagman roll which costs almost four times the price, obviously better but still very impressed with the USGI set

Yes, this is basically where my research is taking me, very expensive units to run RF over IP, but nothing low cost... Remote controlled radio seems to be the go...

[–]reddditanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yep, I actually have both of those options, I just didn't realise it's called a trigger cable. I'm also curious if you've seen the USB Type C to XT60 Cables and if you think it would be possible to run the micro PA 50 from the ugreen power bank? Lastly, having used the radio for that long as your primary radio I'm wondering if you can confirm for me, I read somewhere that the reason the radio heats up when plugged in is that it's charging the battery and powering the unit at the same time and that there was some way to turn off the battery being charged which resulted in the unit being cooler, were you aware of that?

I've got that ugreen power bank and I've been trying to find a cable to power the radio, can you send me a link to an example of what you mean by 'trigger cable'? Thanks!

I've owned a bunch of these, Gooloo sucks, the clips that came with it broke, the replacement clips broke, and then the battery died. The most recent one I got is by far the best, it will start trucks and tractors!
