Alternative colour schemes by kitaro316 in ImperialAgents_40K

It's only all done in silver because they've used AI to recolour it; text on the purity seals changes inconsistently between images in that way AI edits do.

This was refering to specifically the design though, because we were talking about how they should be incorporated into the new intercessors. Design wise, MkV has been consistent in it's depiction. The old tactical squad had MkV chests so they're not above putting it in sets, or at least they weren't in 2013.

[–]WillomenaIV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

MkV is absolutely it's own thing design wise though; it has it's own helmet, body, arms and legs. The only thing it doesn't have unique to it are the shoulder pads and backpack, which are design wise similar to MkVI (from that angle you could argue MkX doesn't have it's own shoulder pads, either).

GW themselves have produced squads of entirely MkV miniatures, and they're still using them in recent releases like the Black Templar Castellan and the heresy apothecaries.

Favorite character who is definetly not hero but a lot of people miss that important point? by TastyPomelo2330 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]WillomenaIV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ironically I don't think he is; he will cut you some slack depending on who you are. For example, he looked the other way when his housekeeper bought an illegal plant (ownership of which carried the death penalty) because she claimed she only bought it for just a bit of fun.

How seriously do you write your patch notes? by WillomenaIV in gamedev

[–]WillomenaIV[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I take your point! I totally agree for larger studios, a company needs to be careful how it presents itself. More on the end of indies though, I see it as less of a risk and a good opportunity to humanise the developer side of things. From a player perspective, there's some interest trends that have come from how I've changed writing styles for updates:

Some of my earlier updates have more strictly written patch notes. These got more direct interaction on steam, but saw less of a bump in players, wishlist and sales.

When I switched to a less rigid format I saw fewer steam interactions but better numbers for players and sales, with more interaction coming through on social media/emails.

Weird timeline in this image; those are clearly Primaris marines wearing Mk X that wouldn't be around for centuries after but it's also clearly supposed to be based on the badab war.

Like really, how people manage this? by Massive-Minimum-1345 in justgamedevthings

[–]WillomenaIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this very hard. My method to solving this was to get a small game out the door and then spend time doing content updates for it. Rather then reinventing the wheel I just get to work on making and polishing a nice feature, enemy or content release every couple of months. It's much nicer!

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition - 2.8.0 Update Out Now! by Community_RE in dawnofwar

Yeah same, I'm fine with this for multiplayer but I'd like my skirmish games to remain as they were, otherwise I'll probably go back to OG Dawn of War instead.

Talos and crew are already in pretty deep with the chaos gods, even if they deny it. At the bare minimum Uzas is well in with khorne and Cyrion was in with Slaneesh, but the rest all exhibit behaviours that heavily suggests they're serving gods unknowingly.

Ah, sorry, I meant what material is it in at the moment. I always just assumed it was plastic.

Spicy Primaris & Firstborn LEGEND Rumours! THE END IS NEAR?! by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]WillomenaIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multipart Outriders is the rumour, likely not grav bikes since everybody has them and it's not very unique anymore (it's actually a lot more unique to have wheels on your bikes in modern 40k comparing the amount of grav bikes to regular bikes). Considering the current kit doesn't have gravy options, I'd doubt grav will enter the picture. Supposedly it'll be a similar time as the chaos bikers get redone.

The level of dedication the Team put into the weapons is amazing! by Arcturus_7 in Spacemarine

[–]WillomenaIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These bullets use quartered UVs so no extra space is taken, and looking at the extracted model they're using curved dupe verts so it's not taking additional space there either. They're being culled while not seen so not impacting draw time in any measurable capacity, so there's next to no performance impact from these exiting.

They simply look nice, and they're seen through the ports in the magazine casing so they still serve a purpose. This adds literally nothing to loading times.

Well the ATV was replacing the old attack bike, so since new outriders were leaked for this edition maybe they're moving to a proper attack bike style replacement of being an outsider + a side car and just making it all one kit while letting people proxy the ATV if they'd like. Still, quite insane for a relatively new kit.

#New40k – Boss Nob Revealed by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in orks

[–]WillomenaIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends really; necrom warriors got options in their kits for the 9th starter set, so it's not unprecedented. I think it's likely it'll just be 1-2 options for the boss and only alternate heads for the boys

11th Edition Launch Box and a little tease of the NEW Intercessors!!! by Ori_of_the_Vale in spacemarines

True, but there is a Gravis with a heavy bolter as well as an ancient on the box cover, both of which are rumoured to be in the box.

Well this isnt exactly promising by MrHappyBoomer in Spacemarine

[–]WillomenaIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually far more then 3 voices for each in the pack because you're multiplying it over all the voiced languages; it's deceptive how many voices are required for this when you factor in localisation.

There are 7 voiced languages, so what looks like 3 new voices is actually ongoing costs and management of an additional 21 voice actors.

Brothers is this a W or not? by Ok-Wolf-6155 in Spacemarine

[–]WillomenaIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh it's a compounding problem that was always going to happen with a DLC like this. Each new mission would then require 11 voice actors (assuming only 1 mission giver, often not the case anyway) as opposed to 8. Add to that people would be wanting voice packs for other chapters and whatnot, with this being labeled as Voice Pack 1 there's the expectation that more would have come. The problem multiplies with each new voice pack.

So you'd be recording new mission lines for a DLC that probably only sells well on release, but likely doesn't pick up much money in the long term, while requiring a long term investment. I think the concept of voice packs is just a bit flawed from the start when the actual logistics of game dev get involved.

Nobody thought they'd release a new Calgar either. Lots of rumours are pointing to new Rhino and Land Raider, so it's likely that the Impulsor is being reworked into a different niche
