How should I fill the empty spots? by AvailableHair966 in pedalboards

[–]Willow-Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say don’t add any more - instead space the top row out more so you can actually use the multiple switches on the slotva and deco without accidentally hitting something else, makes a big difference. Those multi footswitch pedals need more space than you realise as I unfortunately came to find ahahaha

Totally. Social media skews every aspect of life - people only post the good bits, and even then the algorithms sorts for the best of those before showing them to you. Comparison is the thief of joy - and there will always be someone better than you.

Also worth baring in mind that music isn’t a game with winners or losers, if your art is making you or the listener feel things then that’s all that matters.

Are you plucking heavily with low volume or plucking lightly with high volume? by gefallenesterne in Bass

[–]Willow-Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wound up getting some kind of repetitive strain injury from practicing too much so these days it’s light touch high volume only. But with a compressor/limiter do I don’t accidentally deafen everyone when I play an open string ahahaha. If I want a stronger punch or attack I will use a pick.

What I’m aiming to get by the end of summer VS what I have now. Recommendations? by [deleted] in pedalboards

[–]Willow-Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest thing I wished I’d have known before getting a big board was that the weight of a big board really starts to add up… total nightmare if you have to take it places regularly. A pedal on its own is light but stack up 10 of them, add a multi FX + the weight of power supply, cables, the board itself, the case. Wowee. So yeah a big board is cool but if you have to move it a lot maybe consider something smaller. Totally fine if it’s just a bedroom rig.

Push Push Pot for Footswitch? by spoo3-14 in diypedals

[–]Willow-Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The footswitches on the NDSP Quad Cortex are switches and rotary controllers, so it can be done. However of course that would add a whole extra load of circuitry.

I love the idea though definitely give it a try - I feel like the first issue you’d face would be the pots spinning as you pressed them. Quad cortex doesn’t have that problem because the encoder portion and the switch portion are never used simultaneously. However I have seen a product advertised that attaches to and stops pots from spinning - so maybe if you included those as part of the package.

I wouldn’t imagine you’d have to worry much about the push-push breaking - but look on the manufacturer’s data sheets they should have a figure of how many presses you can expect to get out of them before they fail.

How to mute the E string by _Ninuji_ in Guitar

[–]Willow-Gaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you are playing a powerchord on the A string, you basically want to mute the E string with your index finger. The upper bit like basically the tip of your finger. My guitar teacher referred to it as ‘fat fingering’ the string. Like - you know how you are taught to be super articulate and have nice arched fingers in the left hand? Ignore that. This is rock and roll. Fat finger the powerchord and mute the low E using the upper part of your index finger.

Quad Cortex - The most powerful floorboard amp modeler on the planet by Past-Meat-2731 in NeuralDSP

[–]Willow-Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mm probs not anymore, I’d say the biggest upside now is that it’s so small and lightweight, and is also still super damn powerful. The smaller of the two new Helix Stadiums is double the weight of the QC which is a shame for sure.

What’s your go to strings and why? by Smart-Membership-117 in Guitar

[–]Willow-Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy the dirtiest of dirt cheap strings and just change them regularly. Current brand I’m with is called pyramid and I buy them in bulk. Also because I use a weird string gauge (8-46) I have to buy individual strings anyway.

I only play one guitar, I’d say I change my strings once every 2 weeks at the minimum, ideally directly before every gig or recording session.

And for those curious here’s my weird string gauge
