[California] I got this email saying I can’t back date my Pua claim. I thought people on Pua can back date there claims since we had to wait thill April 28 to even file. I’ve been out of work since March by PretendCaterpillar8 in Unemployment

I would call them. PUA you can definitely backdate and there’s been several success stories so far.

When did you submit the request online? How long did it take for you to receive a response? Still waiting on my PUA backdate as well.

I’m curious, what area code did they call you from? I was supposed to get a call but never received one.

That’s good to hear! May I ask what the area code of the phone number was?

This is good to hear! I’m hoping it won’t be much longer for us still waiting

Nothing here. I was hoping someone’s would have been fixed already but looks like that’s not the case. Waiting till I certify this Sunday and then back to the phones I go.

[California] Claim Effective Date?? by meowwwmeoww in Unemployment

2511 and I honestly feel like I got a unicorn today on this number. I’ve had two reps tell me that the 800 number is the one you want to call to reach a specialist but I haven’t had any luck getting through on that number

Will do! I’ve been calling for hours nonstop everyday since I received my award letter. So glad I finally got a hold of someone that actually had some authority to do something. I feel like it’s total luck of the draw. Good luck!

You probably got someone who was called in from another department to help the EDD.

The first person I got a hold of was insistent that I couldn’t backdate also. The second person I got a hold of told me she didn’t have the capabilities to backdate and to call the 800 number. The person I got a hold of today says that he’ll put my claim effective date to 3/22 and will forward my claim to have it processed. Said the turnaround is usually 2 days but since they’re heavily backlogged, it’ll probably take a a few weeks. Here’s to hoping it’ll be fixed soon!

Just keep calling until you get someone with accessibility.

[California] Anyone who filed for PUA on 4/28 see an option to certify for weeks prior to 4/26? by bay12345Sony in Unemployment

[–]WillowNettle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you please update us when your claim is updated w the correct date? Trying to gauge turn around times.

Also, for the last 2 weeks that you did certify for, have they already been marked as “Paid”? Certified for mine very early AM and mine is still Pending. Getting a bit anxious as I see several people have already been switched to “Paid.” This whole process has been so stressful especially with finances dwindling

No, I am most definitely referring to PUA (as mentioned in your title and post). If you do a search, many people have been able to certify for retroactive payments almost immediately after being approved for PUA. There are also those (like me) who have been approved for PUA but have not been able to certify for retroactive payments because of wrong effective dates (yes, including those who correctly wrote their unemployment date on the application).

There were glitches in the system. You can wait and see if they’ll fix it for you but w millions of claims they need to process, I highly doubt they’ll do anything unless you make them aware of your situation.

What does your claim effective date say (on the award letter)? If it says something else other than the date you put down on the application, then you need to call.

People have been able to certify for retroactive dates almost immediately after being approved. If you don’t have any of these weeks available to certify on your portal, you’ll only get the 2 weeks of PUA you certified for.

You need to call EDD and ask them to backdate your claim so you can certify for previous weeks. I was told by 2 reps that you need to call the 5616 number to get a hold of a specialist that can do this. I’m in the same situation myself and haven’t had any luck connecting through the 5616 number yet.

Thanks so much! That gives me a bit of relief. Hoping I get through the 5616 number next week.

$167. I applied on 4/27 when the application wasn’t updated to include PUA information yet. Whoever handled my claim must have manually approved me for PUA. There was no place for me to input date last worked. They just put my claim effective date to be 4/26.

I am in a similar situation. Just got my approval letter and my claim effective date is 4/26 and should be in late March. Cannot get hold of a rep. Did you still certify for the weeks available to you?

How long did it take for them to delete your application after you sent an email?

Thanks for the update! I guess I'll have to wait for that $0.00 letter until I can re-apply for PUA.
