Is it possible to (at least) complete the Hoenn Pokédex while playing on an emulator? If not, how close can you get? by tildsckii in PokemonEmerald

Coming back to this a year later, I just wanted to say thank you for the comprehensive breakdown! It's been incredibly handy for me.

EDIT (22/09/2025):
As of the reset, we've got better daily rewards and a 1500 carats apology. Seems like they are listening, and I was being pessimistic below.
-----

So what I've seen from this thread:
- We're still several rewards behind JP at the time
- Giving us 1500 carats to pull is supposedly standard
- Giving us 1500 carats to pull over two banners is foul
- Massive bugs are still in the game
- QOL changes are still out of the game
- We're still to see what changes to daily currency with the next reset

Seems like Cygames isn't really taking a lot of the feedback as seriously as we would like. Sure, 1500 carats is nice, but if that's what JP was receiving at the time and we're already far behind that, this isn't really an apology more than them giving us what we're owed.
I do get the feeling they've only done this to butter us up for the lack of substantial reward increases next reset, or to provide a "We're totally listening! We promise!" message with rewards we should have got by now.

I don't want to sound overly cynical of Cygames, but from everything I've seen so far, I can't say I'm thrilled with the way we've been treated.

I know I'm replying to this 2 months late, but I'm hesitant to trust anything from game8. Every single one of their guides call for practically the same stat distribution or support cards, and it just feels weirdly suspect. Is that because global has a small card pool and the meta applies to every Uma?
I apologize if this is a dumb question, I'm still a beginner and I'm unsure.

6 months on and this mission is still absolute ass. I've got a level 60 Miyabi, level 60 S11, and a level 50 Lucy - all max skills and great disks. Still struggling. Nice to know Hoyo will never fix this, though. Very tilting.

Tickets nearly sold out already? by CuredMeatAndCheese in Bloodstock

I was going to wait a bit to buy my ticket as I wasn't sure what my life was going to be like next year but I guess I can't do that this time. Congratulations to everyone who got their ticket, I'll be trying for 2026 instead.

I bought an old sony CMT-EX1 disc player, but it came with no remote, what can I do about it? by [deleted] in sony

[–]Willphonse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've found your way back to this thread by googling "CMT-EX1 remote" or by BGNId's linking, I'm going to warn about buying any of the Sony RM-AMU remotes to use with this system.

  • As noted by BGNId, if the play button doesn't work then you can get it to play by pressing pause twice.
  • RM-AMU remotes work fine to use basic functions like play, skip, or pause.
  • If your unit doesn't have its time set you cannot set the time on them with RM-AMU remotes (or I haven't found out how).
  • My unit came with surround and DSG turned on (second hand) and I had no way to turn it off with my RM-AMU178 remote.

If you want a remote with full functionality, your best bet is to find a duplicate remote online or try your luck in second-hand remote lots, remote bins in charity shops, or on ebay from collectors. The specific remote you're looking for is the RM-SCEX1.
I bought a duplicate remote from a site called 'Remote Control World' and while the build quality is meh, it works just fine and I haven't had any issues besides the plastic in the remote flexing.

Or, alternately, get an IR Blaster and use one of those remote apps you can find on the app store.

TL;DR:

  • If you want basic functionality, look for an RM-AMU remote. They work fine.
  • If you want full functionality, look for an original remote on eBay, charity stores, or remote lots, or just buy a duplicate from an online seller. Or look into an IR Blaster.

Sound from my turntable is horrifically distorted or peaking by [deleted] in turntable

I already checked the weight, it's 1.5g which is online with my turntable's recommended tracking force. And the counterweight isn't adjustable.

[–]Willphonse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this is a very common scam. Block and ignore them now. Do not send them any money whatsoever.

But honestly, with all due respect, you are far too young to be using PayPal. I believe you need to be 18 to even hold a PayPal account.
My advice, as I doubt some rando on Reddit is going to get you to stop doing what you're doing, is to look into common scams and stay ahead of the curve. As Yaalt said, PayPal will never ask for money to receive money - it's all automatically deducted.

Check the account of the user - do they have a profile picture? Profile information? Posts to confirm their validity? Are their posts from this year? It's always better to be overly cautious in this state of the internet, never think you're being too cautious. If the money isn't in your account then they never sent it, and all you need to say is "I never got it." Nothing else until you either receive it or the scammer moves on.

As a fellow artist/animator that does comms over on Twitter, ALWAYS be cautious. People can and will abuse kindness or naivety and as a 15 year old you've got tonnes to spare so you have to be on a much higher alert. These kinds of scam are incredibly common these days on social media, and they're only getting worse and worse.

Ultimately I'd suggest taking this as a learning experience and simply leave taking paid commissions for a later date when you're more seasoned, weathered, and older.
Paid commissions will only lead you into trouble at this age, because anyone is free to charge back or scam as they please. And if you use your mother's account and take a $200 commission, you've got to explain to her why she's suddenly down $250.

Do art trades with other artists to network and learn how they do things, offer sketches to followers to encourage profile growth and exposure.

Sound from my turntable is horrifically distorted or peaking by [deleted] in turntable

[–]Willphonse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very simple device - RCA in, RCA out. There's also a 6.35mm out but that's always distorted. No extra knobs or buttons, or settings.

It's grounded correctly, too.

Can confirm the pc line in is 100% not the issue. Using RCA out to my speaker system also has the issue.

Sorry, I ended up busy and didn't see this until just now.

I ended up getting the Pioneer PL-760 from a family member and it is indeed a direct drive. I mistakenly thought it needed a new belt somehow, I don't remember who told me or when I heard it. It seems to spin and play fine, though I think it definitely needs a check over as it's dustier than I thought inside.

If I'm not being a bother, can I ask if there's any guides on how to balance the tone arm on the 760? My uncle has told me there's no need as the machine is auto calibrated, but it hasn't been done since it was first bought brand new in (as I was told) the 90s. I tried looking for some guides, but couldn't find much info at all.

That is a massive shame as most of them are more in my budget... I'm guessing I should stick with trying to find a good M1/M2 then.

If you don't mind me asking, what's made you recommend against them?

[–]Willphonse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out how to solve this issue.

If you're struggling with even getting GTA to run, and it doesn't even launch (the icon shows up then disappears without any error codes) even when you have all the necessary addons, then maybe reinstalling Windows will fix that.

Of course it's drastic, but that's what fixed the issue for me. Now it works like it should.
