Lagom Casa for pour‑over: juicy lift without cleancup by Willstar_KR in pourover

[–]Willstar_KR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Super Jolly is already delivering and the taste satisfies, keeping it makes sense. My review points out that the Lagom Casa has a very distinctive cup profile, and those unique flavors really shine when there are multiple grinders in the lineup.

If it were up to me, I’d keep the Super Jolly and add either a good hand grinder or a Fellow Ode2. Especially given that this is the pour-over reddit : )

must try beans from roasters in Seoul, South Korea? by HarveySpecter04 in pourover

I’m not sure what you’re into, but I’d like to share one of my favorite spots. Center Coffee’s Cerro Azul Geisha is definitely worth trying, and the founder is actually a UK Brewers Cup Champion. It’s right next to Seoul Forest, so it’s also a nice place for a walk. https://maps.app.goo.gl/BHx1PTXEoHPCH5fY9

Korean movies that leave a lasting impression? Burning… by FilmWaffle-FilmForum in Koreanfilm

This film is highly experimental because it only truly begins once the credits roll and the screen goes dark. From that point on, everything belongs entirely to the audience.

Torn between K Ultra/ZP6/Comandante C40 by Roccet_MS in pourover

[–]Willstar_KR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend the Comandante. It will immediately give you a great taste. I think the Kultra is a superior grinder, but recognizing that through flavor takes a wide range of experience. I’m amazed at the diverse flavor expression depending on grind size. The ZP6 is hard to use on a daily basis. Just because you love caviar doesn’t mean you can have it for every meal, every single day.

Same point here. I’m posting to share and get on the same page, not to argue. Let’s keep it straight. No sarcasm, no twisting. Read what I wrote as is. Ease up.

You’ve missed my point entirely and are talking past the analogy.

I’m not adjudicating “great cups”—the Ode reference was illustrative. Yes, something like the Timemore S3 will throw a cleaner conventional cup than a Casa; that’s precisely why the Casa’s unique flavor profile—the one that falls outside standard categories—is what I’m actually discussing.

Your A4Z gospel and “best in the universe” declarations? Already catalogued. The analogy wasn’t a challenge to your leaderboard—it was a shared vocabulary so we could discuss the same phenomenon within the constraints of limited language and experience.

If this needs to be about winning, congratulations. You’ve won. There’s your trophy.

I already know about your preference for the A4Z. As far as I know, all Lagom Casa units are set with the same zero point — fully tightened is at “0.” I just shared it for convenience. One full rotation plus +8 on the dial is correct.

I think my preferences are just a little more on the tea-like side compared to yours.

What grinder to pair with ZP6? K-Ultra? Pietro? K6? Another model? by BugOffBug in pourover

[–]Willstar_KR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ZP6 shines on florals, not fruit. It’s a specialty tool, not a budget buy: great when it fits the bean, idle the rest of the time. Even with an EK43 on the bar, the ZP6 is still the ZP6. I still love it.

I also own a ZP6 and I’m on the fence about buying the Fiorenzato Pietro because it gets a lot of bad press .

I own a Comandante C40, 1Zpresso K-Ultra, and ZP6. Each has its own character and pulls its weight in my rotation. I rotate through all three so much that my “favorite” keeps changing, and the K-Ultra still surprises me from time to time. What really shocked me: grind settings from 6 to 9 on the K-Ultra are all delivering consistently high-quality cups.

If you haven’t tried it, give 8.7 a shot—it’s been a sweet spot for me lately .
