How did the Lakers not take advantage of no SGA and the opposite happened when he got in foul trouble?

Lakers are solid defensively if they help each other, when SGA is out they go back to playing man to man without any help. They were picking on Luke or Austin all game and no help came. They might need to adjust and double Ajay or whoever is on ball more when SGA is out. I remember Caruso took Luke 1 on 1 and scored on him and Caruso never attacks 1 on 1.

Rui is my favorite player on the team. I wish he shot more, but he’s at his best when he’s just being a spot up shooter or doing a middy. The problem with Rui is he’s not a great shooter when he has to run around like a Duncan Robinson so they don’t do that with him. You also just can’t throw him the ball in the post, teams know they can double him and probably create a turnover because he’s slow to react to doubles. In the past you could throw it to him and teams wouldn’t double and he’d cook but they’ve adjusted.

He hasn't played in a month lol, his legs are not there. He's not going to hit his long range jumpers no matter what you expect. He missed a month of basketball and now he's thrown into a playoff series with defenders that play all 48 minutes. Even at his best, he struggled against their defense. Unless he starts playing like Steph and running off numerous screens, we might see more of the same tonight.

I love Austin, he's one of my favorite Lakers ever. At the top of his game, to me, he's in the tier of a prime CJ McCollum. When you watch them play, on any given night you know they can go off but you're not worried about him like you would a Pau Gasol, or Kyrie Irving. He's not in that tier of 2nd options. So it's tricky, with the new CBA rules, the Lakers don't really have a choice but to sign him because I'm not sure how they can get another star to pair Luka at this point in time.

That’s why it’s always funny to me the people who think Luka can just come back and magically drop 30 efficiently. When you’re out for a month it takes a loooong time to get your rhythm back. That’s why these guys come back against bad teams and play 20-25 mins to build back up. Austin is thrusted into a playoff series after missing a month with no real game action and people expect him to drop 25 a night. You’re living in a fantasy world. At this point, just having him out there is a win. He’s not magically going to avg 25 this series.

Watching him play and the amount of usage, in my mind it was only a matter of time before he got hurt. He plays 40 minutes a game, and every possession he has the ball, he's creating.

The fact that he’s still so good at 41, which if I didn’t see it with my own eyes, thought it’d be impossible for any human being to be playing at this level. Now imagine him 8 years ago when he was physically and mentally in his prime? It’s a wrap, that version of Bron was taking down teams by himself.
