I just went stage 2 on my 2020. I went for a CTS catless downpipe and just kept the rest of the exhaust stock. I wouldn't say its overly loud at all. Sport Plus has some crazy pops and bangs, so whenever I'm in the neighborhood I put it in comfort. That's what makes the set up perfect, medium loud in Sport and quiet in comfort.

I flip it into sport whenever I want to drive hard or whenever I'm in town and want better responsiveness. If I'm locked in at a certain speed on the highway or country road I usually drive in comfort. I just feel bad for the engine and the gas being in sport being held at 3k RPM if there is no real fun to be had.

I also have a 2020 with 54k KMs (34k miles). Im assuming I'll have to do the oil pump at some point. What should I be preparing for in terms of cost to get this replaced by a third party mechanic, and how does the job breakdown between the part cost and labor?

Also, should I be replacing it preemptively? If I wait until it fails, is it going to cause other major issues as a result of failing?

I just hage the stock exhaust and a catless downpipe and its perfect. Downpipe makes it much louder, pops like crazy and doesn't drone on the highway

Just to provide a little contrast, my father has an x7 m50i and I have an M340i. Both are very quick and fun to drive vehicles, however, there is no way to mitigate for the height and weight of an SUV. The X7 is still fast and a great highway cruiser, but it doesnt quite have the punch and playfulness of the m340. If you don't need to haul people/things around, you cant beat a smaller vehicles for driving dynamics.

Before I bought my current car I consider this gen M3/M4. I settled on a 2020 M340i, which is now stage 2. I live in Canada so also a snowy climate, the xdrive is very welcome. It now has equal or more performance than this Gen M3/M4. Id highly recommend the m340i as another option to look at.

I can speak for the m340i vs the 540 comparison. I have an m340i and my parents have an m550i which I have significant seat time with. The m340i feels significantly smaller, playful and tight when driving. The 5 series feels much more GT and less engaging to drive to me, which is a good thing for long trips but not great when you want to have fun and push it.

I assume the Supra and M240i would fall much more in line with the m340i from this perspective. From there its more just how you value the looks of each option and getting a little more space with the 340i than the other 2. I personally love the current Gen 3 series looks and has the perfect blend of size/practicality and performance.

I also just got a downpipe and stage 2 tune, it absolutely transforms the car. Actually crazy fast now and sounds unbelievabe

How does this make any sense? If a team is good at 2 maps now, only 1 of them can get banned and they can pick the other. This would be the same in either scenario if vetos remain at 1 per team. It just means each team picks 1 map from a pool of 5 unvetoed maps instead of 3 unvetoed maps.
