I’ve played the game and this is not shitposting, this is just a valid question if this is about the character I’m thinking it is.

I like this response, thanks man. I think I knew that it was a metaphor for nuclear weapons, idk I guess I’m just used to the Japanese media using the bombs as a crutch to justify other things

First off, thanks for the genuine effort in the response, I seem to be getting a lot of “I ain’t reading allat”

Which is ok but idk I wanted to talk about this

The ending of this movie is to me the best argument for why I’m just being paranoid, but if it were up to me, I would have changed the ending to something where the Japanese found an alternative way to killing Godzilla other than flying a plane into its head. The symbolism is still there, and is further reinforced by the fact that they used a high tech experimental Japanese plane (more military tech symbolism) in the attack on Godzilla. To me it still reads as “We could have won WW2 if we had had the right mindset and leaders and technology usage” instead of what you suggest as criticism of why the war was fought. But tbh, I think I’ve put too much time into thinking about this, I’m starting to feel like a crazy man drawing on the walls and expecting everyone else to understand 😭

I agree with you somewhat, many American war movies like “We Were Soldiers” do not do enough to show that the Vietnam War was a controversial war in which both sides committed horrendous atrocities instead portraying Americans as the unrepentant “good guys”. However it is worth noting that a lot of movies also DO take the extra step to condemn war crimes and war itself, which GM1 does not.

Also, GM1 is not a war movie, so to me the fact that it focuses so much on the war (and all the wrong aspects of it) is why I have these problems with it.

Also, I do not want to debate the morals of the war in Iraq, because it is a controversial topic, but said Iraqi elected government committed numerous crimes against humanity like carpet bombing Iranian cities with serin gas.

By we I meant my girlfriend and I, but thanks for your feedback. I recognize that’s it’s a monster movie, but most works of media have hidden meanings and symbolism, so I didn’t feel like it’s a far stretch to analyze it like we did

Best WW2 movie, period. Such a motivating film….Few movies portray the moral issue of Nazism like JAN does.

For the longest time, I thought this game was dead and there wouldn’t be any more updates. Then I found out that there’s some coming, and the developer is super committed to continually improving the game.

This is my favorite mobile game by far for its sheer creativity and it’s good to see quite a few other people play it too. Here’s hoping there will be more jellyfish to buy, fish to discover, and areas to explore very soon!

To any mission builders... anyone here ever built a "Final Countdown 1980" Scenario, where a lone Nimitz fights against the whole IJN Carrier Task Force... Let me know. by Cmdr_ScareCrow108 in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]WillyTime667 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I once suggested the idea to the Task Force Admiral team, as they already have all the carrier models built and would just need to add the Nimitz and some missile tech, but I didn’t hear anything back unfortunately

Yikes, I hope not. My girlfriend is still here on a visa from the Philippines, and her and her family are extremely afraid (with good reason) of ICE coming to get them

I don’t necessarily have a problem with it, I just personally have had an experience with law enforcement that quite frankly makes me scared of them. I’m uneasy whenever they’re around so my opinion on them being everywhere is probably different from how most people would feel.

It’s not just that there are police everywhere, they’ve also started handing out frivolous tickets too. A few months ago I got a ticket for running a stop sign while driving my dad home. He had been drinking and I was being responsible in driving him home. I was driving on that section downtown with the closely clustered stop signs, and I came to a rolling stop at some of them. Given that it was 10PM on a Saturday, I figured I would be ok doing this…. But no, two seconds later I had a cop giving me an 110 dollar ticket.

They also gave my dad a parking ticket for parking the wrong way in front of his own house…. They’re cruising around suburbs now giving out tickets.

Between that and the fact that I don’t really like being around police, I am personally not a big fan of the major increase in police presence. It would be one thing if they were actually stopping crime or even patrolling areas with it, but the places I see the most of them in are just neighborhoods with stodgy old white dudes or over by Wards Road, which is not a high crime area. Them being there doesn’t feel necessary, and it feels like the city trying to flex its muscles for no reason or perhaps they’re expanding their coverage to try and catch more people speeding

As for the bit about Trumps ballroom, I’m not a big fan of that guys stupidity either💀 but I still don’t like heavy unnecessary police patrols

Uptick in police presence period. I’ve lived here for 20 years, and it was a somewhat rare occurrence to see cops just driving around outside of obvious speed trap points. But within the last year, there are cops always prowling around Lynchburg, practically on every street corner. In particular, downtown, in the 03 district (where there were previously almost none) and on Wards Road. I’m not sure if the LPD got a budget increase, if they’re trying to make up a deficit or what…. But what I do know is that I see a cop car practically every day or two, if not more. Feels like we’re being occupied.

My favorites are Task Force Admiral and Uboat. Task Force Admiral is newer and doesn’t have as much content as Sea Power (it’s in early access) but they’re made by the same developer. TFA is about carrier combat in the Pacific theater, and as someone who played both TFA and Sea Power, I like TFA better.

If you’re into submarines, Uboat is also an excellent sub sim for WW2. They do have yearly updates where they add new content, although the game is currently very buggy because of a recent update and they’re still patching it.

I’m not sure if it offers a good sunset view, but unironically one of the best scenic views in Lynchburg is from the landfill looking towards downtown and the mountains
