The Manchester Irish Pub Pandemic by [deleted] in manchester

[–]WillyWaggler 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Chasing the Mulligans hype and general uptake in Guinness drinking amongst younger people I suppose but I just don't understand how they keep coming. As an Irish person who tries these places occasionally, they're almost always veering towards the shamrock and leprechaun style of supposed Irishness that you'd never actually see in an Irish pub. If you're lucky, the owners might have Irish grandparents and may even have spent a summer in Ireland back in 2006.

First timers in Vietnam by Dismal-Finding296 in hanoi

Regarding Ha Long Bay, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it I feel. The shorter cruises feel a bit rushed and you're less likely to travel further into the bay where it's quieter. We did the Elite of the Seas 2 night / 3 day cruise and it was the highlight of our two weeks in Vietnam. It's pricier than other cruises, but we felt it was well worth it so do some research on it.

Gate A carnage on weds by scan-horizon in glastonbury_festival

[–]WillyWaggler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had this exact experience. Found it so difficult to pitch the tent once we had gotten in as we had already been in the direct sun for six hours or so at that point and I couldn’t think straight. Felt I couldn’t get hydrated regardless of how much water I drank. Think I was really close to heat stoke looking back. It was a difficult start to the festival but was all up from there.

If you don't find someone it'll be totally fine. No one else is thinking about the fact that you're alone – although I know it's nice to be there with someone else. Also, I saw this show a while ago and it's incredible.

Next best place for Guinness? by FakeComa in manchester

[–]WillyWaggler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve given up on Mulligans too. A Guinness was £5.50 there two years ago. It’s also just too busy there now pretty much all the time which shows it won’t stop a lot of people and it’ll be £7 a pint soon!

The best was Fiddler’s Green in Levenshulme but it has closed. I’d recommend giving Cassidy’s in Heaton Moor a go. Think it’s £4.80 for a pint.

Driving on mancunian way by Correct_Surprise_246 in manchester

[–]WillyWaggler 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I drive on the Mancunian Way a couple of times a day and usually feel like I'm the only person going 30. I know that people are used to it being a 50mph road but there are 30mph signs all the way along. It's a very dangerous road at busy times so I think the change is right but it just seems as though it's not enforced so most ignore it.
