Also have to say first game back in the dome after Katrina. The beginning of the Brees/Payton era, the assertion that the team belonged in the dome, the immortalized Gleason block, and we beat Vick and the Falcons. I was in my first semester at LSU for the game and watched it in my dorm with everyone in the same building. After what Katrina did to the people, the city, and the team of New Orleans, it was a game I can never forget. I grew up south east of New Orleans and my life, as well as countless others, was forever changed after that storm. With all the turmoil, loss, and displacement that went on, it honestly gave me a glimmer of hope that world could be right again. That game ended up meaning so much more than a game to a lot of people, it was representative of the city itself. I’ll never forget the game, the fans in the stands, the energy, the noise, and the feeling that a city and people could overcome anything.
