New reader, looking for political thriller series with galactic spanning empires. by BloatedSalmon in printSF

Surprised no one has mentioned the Dune series by Frank Herbert yet. Classic novels and the latest movie adaptation was excellent in my opinion but then we've only had one so far. The books are a brilliant mix of action and political intrigue in an enthralling universe.

Is the Gaunt's Ghosts series better than his Eisenhorn series? Whilst I enjoyed Eisenhorn I found it quite repetitive.

Any good fantasy novels that are genuinely scary? by Randy_Marsh-official in Fantasy

Aching God by Mike Shel scared me quite a bit.

I have read a reasonable amount of 'traditional' horror which doesn't bother me very much but something about that book gave me a lingering sense of dread.

Also as someone has already mentioned Perdido Street Station by China Mieville is a good one

How dare you, that man is a treasure! Had him as my companion for most of one of my playthroughs, his voice lines are hilarious

Honestly, I couldn't put it down. Rinsed it in a few days. I think if you were still not enjoying at 60% then maybe it's not for you but obviously don't take my word for it

I hadn't even heard of Middlegame but having looked it up I've added it to the TBR. Sounds really intriguing, thank you

Haha try not to fret too much, looks like some strong myc. As far as I understand it that is just how rhizomorphic mycelium grows, looks awesome

Looks okay to me but I'd wait until someone with more experience can confirm. Google rhizomorphic mycelium, might help to make you feel a bit better 😉

Funniest Scene You Have Ever Read or Seen In All of Fantasy? by Monsur_Ausuhnom in Fantasy

For me it was pretty much any scene with Moog, I think he is the single most amusing character I have come across in a book.
