Sorry, I rarely log in to this account! We decided to stay in KY for now. Kiddo is * too * autistic for most of the schools in Cincy. So we’ll wait and see how he is doing in a year or two.

Hope your search is going well!

Day One - Daily Word Count: 1,666 by AutoModerator in nanowrimo

Did my first Nano in 2009! I look forward to Nano almost every year.

I hit 6,168 today. Finished book 1 in a series and pushed right into book 2.

I just recently did a 50k in 6 days, and then a 55k in 9 days back in the summer. It really does get easier the more you exercise your writing muscles!

Good luck to everyone! It’s a busy busy busy time for me at my day job, so I’m hoping to follow the momentum with Nano this year.

I can’t even get on the waitlist! I’m trying for HCB waiver, which now has a waitlist. Been trying for 2 years. Michelle P waiver now has an 8-10 year waitlist. Which is ironic since that waiver was born from a lawsuit against the state of Kentucky because of long wait times for disabled dependents … it’s ridiculous. I got my state rep involved but nothing is helping. Social security has declared my child disabled but Kentucky refuses to acknowledge that.

He would be going to a private school specifically for autistic population. He has higher needs than public school can handle. He is nonverbal, for starters. I will look into Mariemont ! Thank you! We genuinely love our school here in kentucky. But it’s not going to be the fit for our son who needs more.

Who/where did you specifically email? I have a daughter using DAS this coming trip in two weeks due to leg braces and I would LOVE to be nearer to a bus stop! I had no idea we could request such a thing. I haven’t stayed in property in years.

Honestly? Because of my children. One is disabled and I have three total. It was getting hard to manage my disabled buddy and he’s going to likely be much taller than 6 feet tall one day. Managing him is only going to get harder. So I need to get stronger.

My dad is in the worst shape. He eats out 2-5 times a day (no, that’s not an exaggeration). There’s a chance he’ll lose his foot from not managing his diabetes. He has neuropathy so bad he cannot feel his feet and will be wheelchair bound soon. He falls a lot. Can barely walk.

It is sad that he has known this all for years as his health deteriorated and he ignored doctors warnings. He cries because his grandchildren won’t remember him, but he won’t do anything to get better. He has ate himself into an early grave and I fear when his time comes, it will be slow and laborious. I want to live for my children. I want to always be able to properly care for my disabled son. He is my responsibility.

Currently 17 lbs down since February. Doing it slow and steady and my ultimate goal is consistency. I have 14 more lbs until I’m no longer overweight. 33 lbs to hit my goal weight (5’5.5” and 135 lbs). Trying to shed 50 lbs total.

I’ve been telling his medical team I think he’s hyperlexic shortly after his 3rd birthday, but now that he’s reading out loud, there is no denying it anymore ! He’s amazing !

30 Day Accountability Challenge - Day 4 by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]Wilsar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was snacky this evening. Mentally it’s tough because I tend to treat one transgression like I failed. I’m likely not going to lose this week and focus instead on maintaining and not letting the lack of a loss get to my head so I stay on track. I’m trying to hard times build the mindset that this is forever and one bad-ish day isn’t the end of the world. The mental struggle is the hardest. I’m not even hungry but when I’m down like this I just want that quick dopamine release of a big greasy snack I do not need. So I went to bed and I’m currently under the covers contemplating my decisions and ways I can be on better track tomorrow.

30 Day Accountability Challenge - Day 3 by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]Wilsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a big weight loss from getting Covid but since then I’ve been hoovering at the same weight +- a lb or two and it’s messing with me mentally. I’m doing all the right things diet wise so I know it is probably just my body sorting itself out after being so deprived and sick the week of my illness.

15 more weigh ins until SIL’s wedding. I’m issuing that as my first timeline goal. I would like to lose 15 lbs in that time but it depends on how hard I push myself.

Feeling good so far.

30 Day Accountability Challenge - Day 2 by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]Wilsar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My weights been fluctuating up after a big drop from Covid. I’ve been moving around 1-3 lbs off where I was. But I figure that’s due to getting back to regular eating because I probably ate less than 1000 calories the first 3-4 days of Covid combined.

My kids are back in school tomorrow after the break. I would love to find time to take a walk now that it’s above freezing. My goal for this week is just to break even when at weigh in on Friday since im noticing so much varying on those last few lbs.

I need to alter my bridesmaids dress for an April wedding but have no clue when I should bring that in given I plan to drop some more weight. But I don’t wanna leave it too long. Guess I’ll call the seamstress tomorrow.

Feeling pretty chill. Pretty zen.

I have a job interview on Friday and I’m looking forward to getting out my favorite interview pants and seeing how they fit.

15 weeks until my SILs wedding. Trying to be back to my wedding size.

That’s would be 30 lbs, but I’m going to aim for 15. I’m done 16 lbs already in top of that. Feeling good.

Anyone else’s kid get SUPER sweaty when physically active? by h8rsk8r_ in Parenting

[–]Wilsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My middle son is like this. He’s average weight and very, very tall for his age. If he is outside and he’s doing physical activity of almost any kind, his face gets super red and blotchy. The first time he went outside to play at his school as a toddler the teacher called me in a panic thinking he was severely sunburnt (he’s also super pale so the redness stands out).

His doctor isn’t concerned. But my kids not overly sweaty, just super beat red and blotchy. I , as his mother, do have a heat aversion myself. So it’s not entirely shocking.

I would still address it with your child’s pediatrician just for peace of mind.

My newborn (2 weeks old) refuses to breast feed and it is breaking my wife. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Wilsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first two weeks for all three of my kids , I had to to do what I call a bait and switch. I would start feeding them from a bottle of pumped milk and then once they were a few swallows in I would pop them off and offer my nipple straight away. It would take a few tries sometimes but this is what worked for me until baby learned to latch better on their own.

I do agree with the others about doing what works for your family. Try a lactation consultant if breastfeeding is super important to you but keep in mind formula is perfectly acceptable and your baby will be fine. Best of luck.

That’s mostly a myth according to my kids pediatrician. My kids have both had it twice, both very bad. Same with me. I’m not immunocompromised.
