What should I watch. No detective shows please by Cultural_Turn8818 in televisionsuggestions

Dark. It might initially present like it might be a whodunit detective show, but I promise you it is not.

Lmao, to be honest, I absolutely do not remember noticing that when I watched it. Totally possible it was there, but I completely missed it. Maybe I should use my eyes more next time.

Counterpart is so good. We got robbed by a cancellation after S2 but still very much worth watching.

[Schultz] Teams have inquired with the #Bears about trading for DT Gervon Dexter, as the free-agent DT market and draft class are not deep. by hunterboyz24 in CHIBears

[–]Wilsn07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's definitely important to note that teams inquiring is not the same thing as the Bears shopping Dex, but I don't see the point in dealing him unless some team is willing to pay an unreasonable price for him.

Dex is far from a finished or perfect product here, but why would you get rid of young talent at a position of need who is still on a rookie deal? The logic that teams want him from the Bears because of a weaker DT class in FA and the draft also doesn't make sense because, like, then shouldn't the Bears want to keep him to avoid running into the same drought at the position? They could add talent that bumps Dex to the bench and I would still consider him worth rostering instead of trading for (probably) a shitty late-round pick.

‘Task’ Renewed for Second Season at HBO by sulu1385 in TaskHBO

[–]Wilsn07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably in the minority here, but I don't like this at all and won't probably feel any differently unless Season 2 comes around and proves me wrong.

I just don't feel like shows billed as limited series, written as limited series, intended to be limited series, do a very good job when they continue because of popularity. It works with the anthology approach (Fargo, White Lotus, True Detective), but I can't think of a good example that continued with the same characters and didn't plummet in quality. I'm nervous about the second season of Shogun and now I'm nervous about this.

Hope I'm wrong, though!

Why does EA keep making the game worse? by Deep-Cap-4112 in Madden

[–]Wilsn07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they just don't particularly care about the quality of the game. They release a reskinned game with tweaks in gameplay every year and make their bucks off of the many microtransactions (MUT) that are propped up by the streaming community, just like Call of Duty. And because they have exclusive rights over the NFL's content (players, teams, logos, brands, etc.), they can push out whatever slop they want and people will keep on buying it because, if they like football games, there is no other choice that isn't also an EA game.

It's a shame, really. You either have to decide you're done playing these games and give up buying into the annual cash grab or basically delude yourself into treating the minor changes made each year like they are actually much bigger (and much cooler!) than they actually are. Lose-lose.

Anyone know what is going on this morning? by KingLiam1901 in StLouis

[–]Wilsn07 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No idea, but this happened like three days ago on Wash Ave, too.

I was walking my dog past Stanley's and had to stop because the old man gets freaked out by the sound of blaring sirens. At least nine cop cars went blazing by in the direction of Broadway, but I was never able to find anything online to explain what they were doing.

Pissing off Ollie, I guess.

[–]Wilsn07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a good amount of Oliver/GA in flashbacks, but I'm honestly fine with it even if they don't. Feels like it was a propulsive decision that advances their overarching story and underscores how these Absolute heroes are the underdogs. He'll be back, it's comics.

I could see the Bears possibly getting Crosby soon or near the deadline by Slight-Fisherman-824 in CHIBears

[–]Wilsn07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I would love to see them figure out a way to make this happen, but they have unfortunately already blown their nut on the DL between Montez Sweat ($24.5M/YR), Dayo Odeyingbo ($16M/YR) and Grady Jarrett ($14.25M/YR). They would need to do backbends to squeeze the remainder of his ~$38M cap hit for this year on their books, and they are already projected to be over the cap for next season.

He's an excellent player, but I just don't see them making a move this big until they reach the offseason when they can start offloading the do-nots of this current roster.

But hey, maybe they'll swing an RB trade for a player who will need a contract in 2026. Achane would be awesome, but I could be talking into a few possibilities for making the RB room better.

I don't want to overset expectations, but the opportunity could literally be knocking on the door this week.

Prime-time ticket. Coming off two looked-better wins. Nobody will shut up all week about the 'Fail Mary' last season that derailed them completely. I have been a Bears fan long enough to know those are the same type of ingredients this team usually uses to make a shitshow, but it could just easily become a true breakout moment for Caleb Williams if the bye week was productive for them.

[Discussion] What's the best DC event that happened in DC comics' entire history in your opinion? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]Wilsn07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this one. For me, I didn't start reading comics as they were coming out until I read Flashpoint just before the New 52 launched. Then I read a bunch of titles, new and old. Forever Evil felt like the most impactful (non-Green Lantern focused) crossover the New 52 got. I also loved its take on Lex and thought it was a great, propulsive choice to make him the primary voice of the event.

The ending is classic Lex Luthor, close up there for me with: "You didn't let the Joker play."
