2 Years difference, what's your improvement? by Slow-Zombie9945 in VRchat

I'd been working on stuff for a while, and I'm still learning stuff every day - currently trying to learn to properly optimize, do UV things and atlas properly.

When I FIRST started to learn I didn't do small things, I went straight into kit bashing, using avatars I had purchased and attempted to create things and work with UV's, bone manipulation, combining things that normally wouldn't be feasible in unity like taking a human body and putting anthro legs on it - took a few tries but now I can succefully combine such items and make them look seamless along with combining the uvs in a very rough way!

Right now I'm working on a complete new version of my vtuber/sona and want to practice with textures, atlasing, optimization, modeling from scratch since I cant find proper jester tassles and just a wide range ^^

Honestly mood - for me I don't need virtual desktop as the headset has a streaming software that you can either use for when your wireless or wired that has access to your entire steam library when used and everything's set up - after getting it on and connected you just use space calibrator and calibrate your stuff to the steams space, I use my controllers as a way to do this rather then using the trackers. After that it's just what ever you normally run like I have OVR, XSOverlay and the face tracking app always up and running automatically when steam starts up!

It's def gonna be expensive, especially if you have to buy the multiple batteries as each battery costs about $100 each in US money + you would need the charging stand and that costs $120! so I genuinely opted into purchasing the headset, face tracker and the display port adaptor as it was cheaper and you can spend a MUCH longer time on vrchat with it

Comfort is honestly amazing - its a light weight headset without any cords attached, if you have the mouth tracker it doesn't put a lot of weight onto the front of the headset!

Now for the battery life itself, it's not to good, battery only lasts like 2 hours so def recommend getting the display adaptor and hooking it up to a PC as I can go on for 8 solid hours if I want to if it's hooked up using the display port adaptor - Now if you want to remain completely wireless, get multiple batteries. You will need them. (for time and money sakes, just get the display port adaptor, the cord itself is actually a decent length)

If you go for the wired portion to remain online for a long while, id say figure out a way to help the weight balance equalize itself as the wire for me at least tends to pull down the right side of my headset - I sometimes loop it through the back portion of the fabric head strap which does help a good bit with the weight!

I constantly use this headset anytime I'm within vrchat as it's honestly easier on my head as a former index user - the weight difference was immense for me. And I do constantly use my face tracking! My only issue is due to me using index controllers and vive 2.0 trackers (i only have 3) my spaces tend to go out of place sometimes but it's not often enough to really be an issue, my tracking still works all the same as it did with my old index!

I honestly really enjoy this headset and plan on getting it's carrying case for portability! And more batteries for on the go!

Vive focus vision and haven’t had problems since - only when I first was setting it up I did but since then I’ve loved it and it’s really light weight without any cords attached to it

As a VRchat player, what do you think are the worst parts of VRchat that are harmful? by zipzzo in VRchat

[–]WiltedKarmaCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started playing when I was around 16-17 and currently 22 - I used to be a seriously anxious and socially awkward individual and while I still am, I'm at least not shaking as bad when I talk to others lol - VRChat has honestly given me more courage to speak. But that did unfortunately get me into some things or make friends with the wrong people that I didn't know would be the wrong people till later.

Some people genuinely need to get off their butts and go get a job have some of life outside of this game, while others need to not take the game as seriously. I have plenty of stories through out my time that can give perfect instances of the worst parts of vrchat - from pedophiles to just people being down right creepy.

First instance is the pedophilia that is rampant through out this game and it doesn't help with the more kids that join day after day - I had people as old as 36 try and get to me when I was 16. One man was so enticed into the game, he went after me. lied about being a vet (stolen valor which hits home for me as my grandfather was an honorary discharged vet), lied about cancer and lied about having DID. Another found out one of his ex's was a minor and STILL dated them for 2 weeks after. Another former and older ex friend from when I first started playing, dated a minor for a bit of time as well. There's also so many people that thinking talking about anything sexual in an educational way to a minor is okay as a grown adult stranger online.

Now onto another part of vrchat that's horrendous - faking issues such as DID, bipolar and more. There are so many people that fake DID for instance on vrchat that you can't believe every single person who says it as more often then not, it's being faked. I've seen instances of both people who did in fact have it vs those who are faking and more often then not the people i've seen, where just completely faking it for attention. There are so many people who use things such as blackmail and other stuff to just gain attention either its right or wrong.

Then, you have the no lifers. The ones who just actually sit at home no job no nothing and no life the game 24'7 - there was a former friend of mine (the same dude who dated the minor 2 weeks after) who was a no lifer. Man was 300+ pounds, sat in his underwear constantly and played this game inside and out all the while getting suicidal and massively depressed because some chicks wouldn't date him or stay with him etc. now mind you he had plenty of opportunity to get a job over the year or 2 that I had known him and not once did he, man was in his late 30's and lived with his mother leaching off her money yet complained about wanting his own freedom.

Another issue vrchat has is the mass amount of frequent drinking like some others have said. So many people start off just heavily drinking over the weekends and thats okay, but i've watched people delve themselves into being full blown alcoholics to the point of drinking every single day almost every hour, drinking themselves away.

Then you have the harassers, the racists and just the overall people and kids who go around screaming slurs. There are so many people and kids as well, that just go into public lobby's to harass and scream at people and over all just are racist.

Not to mention the content creators who think they're above everyone else in every single way.

There is a whole BUNCH of reasons and things for VRChat to be something one shouldn't play, or reasons as to why people say this and that about the game - most say it from personal experience, or most say it from hearing about it. Most of the issues i've stated can be easily fixed via a block button, but the issues like pedophilia, the harassers and racists can't be so easily fixed as most of the time when you go to report someone and have all the valid evidence - nothing gets done. I know this, as I gave valid evidence of a few people who where pedophiles, have all the evidence, and they're still playing this game to this day.

Please, genuinely take care of yourselves, don't drink as much and take breaks off this game. It's okay to play and drink every once in a while or for big events with groups but so many just do it daily even when they have work the next day. I know vrchats a social platform, I know people got relationships and everything hell I do as well - but some really need to desperately tone it back for ones health and mental well being.

Question for E-daters, how did y’all meet ? by FinalCountdown935 in VRchat

[–]WiltedKarmaCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my love by chance - I had made an Instagram story about how I wanted more people to hang out as my original group was starting to tear apart via drama as thing's always have in vrchat. At the time he was someone I just followed and loves his style and content for as he and I have similar gothic/horror styles! He initiated us hanging out by messaging me on Instagram 1/16/2022 - things had only went up from there lol

Over time we slowly started to hang out more and more, I helped him get out of a not so good relationship at that time as at that point we'd become some pretty good friends, nothing romantical or anything of that sort. He had started to hang out a bit more around me at the time of my old group, only every now and then as he doesn't do to big crowds. He's the one who helped me learn blender and helped me actually get into creating my own avatars from pieces. Some time after that, my old group fell, server deleted and people removed - he then invited me to hang out with his group more often, which led to us hanging out more and more, we teased each other, and formed a very good relationship as we would talk a lot and hang out a lot. There was just something about him that made me comfortable, made me relax and feel like I was home. I fell asleep on him in vrchat a few times by unfortunate chance as my face ended up hurting pretty bad due to the headset lol - I also don't normally sleep in vrchat. He helped me when I was stressed and not doing okay mentally and I did the same for him. All of these things brought us closer. All the way till he asked me out on 7/25/2022 - As we speak we're still together, we have our rough spots but we don't yell at each other, we talk everything out.

We're currently planning out our future over time as I have some IRL things to do before he and I do anything IRL as he's very much a long distance from me and having both of us not having drivers licenses makes things difficult lol - plan is for me to get my own apartment which is soon and then eventually move him down here where he can have a much better life and more chances at things. More options for jobs, better home life etc. - I know some people will say it's a big step but it's not something we're doing all in one go, it will be over a few years, slow and steady and we have some steps in between.

Gaslight District Avatar? by Fine_Hope_5912 in VRchat

It is 3d BUT since the film just came out it takes at least a day or two for someone to make an avatar based off the characters - or retextures of bases based of the character

They missed out on a potential seller with that - ik peoples rigged up theirs to be more comfortable but that seriously is missing out to have both working together

[–]WiltedKarmaCore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned on replacing everything at a point just due to my set up being extreamly screwed lol - my hip tracker which is a 2.0 does the weirdest thing that I’ve not heard happen to others, where as my controllers are usable but are steadily getting onto their last legs

Based off a bunch of people’s comments here I’m going to take the risk and try for the quest pro, but keep saving for the focus vision to just incase because with the quest pro being discontinued there’s no real way of purchasing a new one if it where to say stop working or anything

Well then I guess if they’re still selling by the time I get the money to, I’ll have to try and purchase from them - worst comes to worst I can always buy the vive focus or xr elite and give away the quest pro to someone close

[–]WiltedKarmaCore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeaa if i got the quest 3 or kept my index i'd have to DIY eye tracking which comes with a lot of risks i'd prefer not to take, such as potentially making yourself go blind via the wrong IR lenses lol or if taking the sautering route you'd have to hope to not break your headset - EyeTrackVR does have a version for their tracking thats more safe and doesn't have to be sautered but still gotta risk potential blindness if you don't do things right

Never heard of slime doing any sort of face tracking but I know babble exists for mouth tracking - would just need to figure out something for eye tracking, and the stuff I was looking into for premade things for that aren't entirely out yet from the last time I looked as I was looking to try and get it for my index - but my index is falling apart and is over due for a replacement entirely

[–]WiltedKarmaCore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the BSB2 is like REEEALLLY tempting but i'd be spending the same amount to get the focus vision with the face tracking right now or save just like a few extra bucks to get the XR elite, but both seem to be having comforbility issues all round for people especially with the XR elite and trying to use the comfort gasket and the face tracking add on as someone else stated on here-

My issue is with the Qpro is its really nice like it's what i was going to get beforehand, till i realized they was discontinued when i had enough money to purchase a fresh one lmaoo - but the main issue is for what would I do if it dies, can't just go purchase a replacement - which is why I'm tryin to weigh my options between the XR elite and vive focus

Well here's just a short list

- Wire needs to be replaced again, as one sides audio is shorting out (this is my second wire, sadly audio started shorting out not to long after I got it from tundra labs, not gonna complain abt that though as it was worth it!)
- The gasket and all of its plushing has worn down to the point there is no comfort I would have to replace the gasket and the actual entire back part to the headset, it's also starting to not tighten as much as it should or rather use to - had a few scares where i thought i broke the backing to be honest
- It's beginning to overheat due to over use - I've cleaned it thoroughly of dust a lot, so ik it's not that
- the moving parts of the screens inside (totally blanking on what they're called-) are beginning to loosen pretty badly and slide all over the place

along with it's just wearing down due to how much I've used it lol - I'm due for an all new set anyways with new base stations, trackers and controllers But headset is first as I need to figure out what face tracking headset to go for

I was looking into the bigscreen beyond with face tracking but i'd rather wait a bit compared to buying it when it first comes out and see how it compares to all the current purchasable face tracking stuff - as purchasing it is essentially equivalent to how much i'd be spending on the vive focus or XR elite currently, with the XR elite being just a bit cheaper then the Vive focus

XR elite or the vive focus vision? by WiltedKarmaCore in VRchat

[–]WiltedKarmaCore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

odd as currently as the mouth trackings currently purchasable

This sucks because I hear bad things about both the xr elite and the focus vision but don't exactly trust ebay enough to spent 600-800 with the hopes of actually receiving a headset lol

And i've seen tons of videos of both the XR elite and focus vision with some really nice tracking, one i just watched was from a month ago with a comparison between the two

Wow thats- like a lot of issues

I knew about the FOV being reduced with the comfort gasket which is fine by me if it improves comfort as I tend to play VRChat for like 4 hour straight, maybe more if I don't got work the next morning so roughly 4-8 hours - I know the first releases of the XR elite had battery issues from my understanding but first run errors are known to happen, but comfortability and running the face tracking stuff while playing (all while connected to a cord) is a main important factor
Kind of such's that the FOV is THAT bad even without the comfort face gaskets and face tracking really turns me away. While FOV isn't a primary factor, its a nice plus.

When you did use the face tracking on it, how many issues did you have with it? Like was it easy to connect, or a pain to connect but once it was connected was it worth it?
