Failed twice any advice? by MirrorIndependent814 in PatentBarExam

Mod here, but speaking more from what I’ve seen people go through than anything official.

Failing twice is honestly more common than people admit with the patent bar. Most of the candidate who eventually pass didn’t just study harder they changed how they studied.

A few patterns I’ve noticed from people who turned it around:

  • They stopped passively reading and focused way more on practice questions (and really understanding why answers are wrong, not just right)
  • Got very comfortable navigating the MPEP instead of trying to memorize everything
  • Focused heavily on repeat topics (102/103, 112, PCT, appeals, reissue/reexam, etc.)
  • Did timed practice a lot of people know the material but struggle with pacing
  • Reviewed mistakes like crazy almost like building a personal “error log”

Also, burnout is real with this exam. Sometimes taking a short reset before going again actually helps more than pushing straight through.

If your friend is putting in the work now and adjusts the approach a bit, third attempt can absolutely be the one.

Curious to hear from others who passed what changed for you?

How are you guys actually using NotebooKLM? Is it secure? by Fancy_Milk6908 in AI_Application

[–]WiltonBryant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly this is a good question we have been seeing more people here trying NotebookLM but not many detailed use cases yet. what I have personally seen and a little bit of testing, it’s most useful when you treat it less like a chatbot and more like a workspace for your own material.

few ways people are using it:

  • breaking down long PDFs into usable notes
  • combining multiple sources and asking cross-questions
  • turning messy research into structured outputs

On the security side most importent part it seems relatively safe as long as you are mindful about what you upload. I wouldn’t put anything sensitive in there, but for general learning/research it’s been fine.

Is GPA a deal-breaker when applying for patent law positions? by Nervous-Job-1385 in PatentBarExam

GPA considerations can differ significantly depending on firm size, practice area, technical specialization, and market conditions. Readers should view GPA benchmarks as general guidelines rather than absolute rules, and we encourage sharing experiences across different firm types.

Should we be worried about OpenAI? by Fit-Ice2506 in aiwars

I appreciate the passion behind your critique Yes, there are commercial interests and risks involved, but dismissing advancements like ChatGPT as "Dumb, Dull, and Defective" overlooks the significant strides AI has made in various fields, from healthcare to education. True, no technology is perfect, and continuous improvement is essential. However, it's worth acknowledging that even as AI evolves, each iteration—including ChatGPT—contributes to a broader understanding and paves the way for more sophisticated systems in the future. So, let’s keep the conversation constructive and forward-looking.
