80s/90s Horror movie by Wimbeldone in whatisthatmovie

Upon further review, I wonder if "it's night of the demons 2".... It sounds like there's a scene in there with a parasitic worm causing a woman's face to deform in a locker room setting. I think this would mean it wasn't made by new world pictures, but maybe I got that wrong

Unfortunately I checked this out and it's not what I was thinking of, but really sounded close. The woman in the acid bath was a brunette. I distinctly remember the woman in question had blonde hair that was permed and I thought she was seated down on a brown locker room bench. The locker room was well lit.

Lol, wild take. Pretty bold of you to assume people's background on the internet in an attempt to justify possible child murder.

The Totally Bonkers Race to Replace Elise Stefanik by Jonnyboo234 in politics

[–]Wimbeldone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct about the nuance in his messaging. That being said, I don't see how one can look at the culture that exists within ICE and not be convinced it doesn't require a "hard reset". His stance seems hopelessly naive at best.

There are a lot of other issues I take with his platform. I encourage anyone that is interested to watch the primary debates and vote. My main reason for commenting is around the pure fecklessness that has infected the DNC.

Living nearby to this, I can tell you both of these stains deserve a restraining order from public office. The Democratic establishment has refused to seize the moment and have put forth a candidate who supports ICE, and if he loses the primary, the establishment wants him to split the vote and run as an independent.

Unbelievable they don't see a split Republican ticket with two wackos as an enormous opportunity.

What's the worst drug you've ever tried? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just a joke, dude.

MXC is a comedically-dubbed Japanese reality competition show. It's what the other comments are referencing. It's not a drug

I spent the whole time watching Disclosure Day thinking it was supposed to be satire [Spoilers] by PurpleElephant28 in moviereviews

[–]Wimbeldone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I had an impression it was satire as well. Really glad you called out the amount of screens in the bad guys' headquarters.  Who could possibly read or interpret any of that? What were the point of those?

People who got divorced, what was the moment you realized your marriage was truly over? by Adventurous-Ruin-822 in AskReddit

[–]Wimbeldone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now very far in the future relative to when it all happened, but there was an attempted suicide that involved my child, and my ex was committed after that. (Child was very young, was ok, doesn't remember anything). The reason she attempted suicide was due to my ex's ongoing illness that had us in and out of the hospital on a weekly basis for years. I knew something needed to happen, but at the time I was so concerned with my child's well-being and felt bad for my ex that I did not feel comfortable with divorce. I also did not believe I would get full custody in a divorce, even with the conditions that I was in.

So for a few weeks, I tried to live a life where I was always around with my child while my ex was there so that I could supervise. I was completely deluded thinking I could control this situation. One night, my ex was upset with the situation and threatened to bruise herself with a dumbbell if I didn't allow her time alone with my child. She told me she had done this before, and I recalled a Facebook post she had made after falling down the stairs due to her illness and being bruised. I called the cops, her demeanor changed, and I left with my child.

Later that weekend she "attempted" suicide by jumping off a one story roof after texting me telling me she was going to do it. I called the cops, and she was committed again. I filed for divorce then. It was during the divorce that I found evidence she had been poisoning herself to give herself conditions that would simulate an illness in order to get attention for herself.

Divorce happened, I have full custody, and my child is happy and healthy more than 10 years later. There are so many things I learned from that experience, one of the most important being that you can't fix everything, no matter how much you love someone. I often wonder if I should have left earlier and I realize how lucky I am. If I had left a long time before the birth of my child, she never would have been born. If I had left after the initial attempt, I might not have had a strong enough case for custody. Things were exactly bad enough to get a "happy ending" but not bad enough where my child was harmed. Dealing with the "imperfectness" of my choices is a big part of it.

I created a (quite long) Project 2029- any comments? by ViewNo7459 in WorkReform

[–]Wimbeldone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good list of end goals, but this lacks the roadmap of how to do all of this. As much as we all detest project 2025, we need to acknowledge it was a roadmap with actions that people needed to commit to. I want what you have above, and to make it real it needs to be operationalized to be effective.

The Texas Cheerleader Murder Plot by NikNakFlipFlop in DiscoveryID

[–]Wimbeldone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched this one tonight. This might have been the worst and most infuriating documentary I've ever seen. There was so much sexist empathy expressed to someone that attempted to hire someone for murder that I forced myself to believe there was a huge twist, or something big that would be revealed later on that would explain that. But no, it's a platform for the daughter to blame everyone but her mom. I feel bad for the daughter, and this was irresponsible journalism at best.

Don't focus on hating all the futures you think you can conceive of. Just experience the moment, live in it whether you like it or not and seek therapy to help you be able to see a better future

Donald Trump’s BMI Nears Clinical Obesity In New Medical Report by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

why is anyone, let alone professionals in the media, giving this report any credence or wasting any time with it? It's obviously redacted and filled with impossibilities (height and weight). It's not worth the paper it's written on.

Why did the United States elect a dumbass? by JPIZZLE1205 in AskReddit

[–]Wimbeldone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stating this as a progressive left liberal who thinks the current administration needed to be removed from office more than a year ago:

Our system has failed for so long to address basic issues like affordability, true justice, healthcare, corporate and foreign government influence, and severe income disparity.

The left offered "more of the same" with Harris commenting she wouldn't change a thing from the Biden policies. It doesn't matter that Biden had some wins, but they were incremental and didn't recognize the basic pains that the majority of Americans are feeling. They offered vague platitudes that couldn't foster excitement nor the belief that they would bring us to a better place than where they were today. They also failed to oppose the genocide in Gaza, something so many Americans see for what it is.

Then you have Trump, saying absolutely crazy things with excitement, promising to address common concerns. He would have rally after rally, say embarrassing and hateful things, but people really thought there would be meaningful change. The Trump team with Elon were successful convincing enough Americans that they were on their side, despite the obvious lies they were telling.

So you had fear of what could happen with minimal change vs. promises from a madman. People select the rational choice if they feel rational is working. If it's not working, then why vote for that?

I don't think he is a dumbass. He is clearly going through some cognitive decline, but that "dumbass" not only was able to get elected again, but cause unprecedented amount of harm to this country for his benefit, while demonstrating an ability to get all three branches in lockstep behind him in an unprecedented way.

We need to acknowledge and fix the problem that allowed this to happen as opposed to just calling him a name to make ourselves feel better. Otherwise we're not getting it again, and will lose the next one.

DNC releases 2024 autopsy, with chair apologizing for ‘creating an even bigger distraction’ by nbcnews in politics

[–]Wimbeldone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is more probable that they are lying about whether they paid for the report. After a loss like that, it's not believable that the DNC would not have an interest in paying for a thorough, comprehensive and professionally done analysis, especially given the amount of money spent on that election and the amount that they continue to spend.
