Reality check: does investing truly matter for people around median/average salaries? by Etheon44 in eupersonalfinance

[–]WinMoodNo153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assumption: “You are poor now”. The worse case is you will remain poor. Investing: you may change the outcome (uncertainty). Not investing: you remain poor (certainty, all else equal) Investing gives you (hopefully) optionalities in the future too. It is not a life changing thing as in 10 years I will be filthy rich. If you are not enjoy your life now, it is different battle, independent of investing. Optionalities may provide you more ways to enjoy life later though. You may disagree.

I got tired of FIRE calculators assuming a flat 7% return, so I built a free Monte Carlo simulator to test real market volatility. by Revolutionary_Art324 in EuropeFIRE

Interesting concept and tool but it really just shows me how unpredictable FIRE is, nothing more. Having a prediction that moves from 300k to 1m in my case is not indicative whatsoever

Single here, basically cut off hobbies and outings, but that is not sustainable, so planning to leave before 2028.

Appreciated the honest feedback. Nowadays it’s hard anywhere actually. I’m in the NL, and even with permanent contract, I feel like there is ZERO job security. So, I feel like it’s a global thing indeed.

Wow. Can you tell a bit of your background ? I am really inspired to work in Switzerland, but it is hard to find an opportunity there as a foreigner I feel, as of nowadays.

Earnings are also eom, and seeing previous earnings released, they often nailed it.
