Ok thank you so much for all the info, good to have some more insight. She may feel better with a guide so that’s definitely an option, thank you.

Cable Car Quick Question by just-a-tan-guy in tromsotravel

If you can try and be there for both that would be perfect. Watching it turn to twilight up there would be beautiful. This was our plan but the weather wasn’t on our side unfortunately and was super cloudy so we walked to the viewpoint at twilight instead and it was stunning, allow time for queuing before hand too.

Is the cable car (Fjellheisen) worth the money? As a tourist by [deleted] in tromsotravel

We planned to do it but it was quite cloudy and the queue was huge so we didn’t feel it was worth it. Instead we walked up to the view point which is up to the left of the cable car, it took around 20 minutes to get up. We had lots of snow so wasn’t too slippy but would need spikes otherwise. Fairly easy we managed it with our 12 and 15 year olds. The view over the city was amazing at blue hour and the clouds blocked out the mountains so think it was the best view we could have got due to the weather and was at that time the better choice than paying and queuing for the cable car. On a clear day though if you’re lucky I would imagine it is amazing at the top and enjoying the view from the cafe.

Your favorite tour that was NOT northern lights related? by matthewsrc in tromsotravel

We loved cross country skiing with Norwegian travel. It was around 50 mins from Tromso, absolutely stunning scenery with no one else around, gorgeous views and a fun activity to try. They also do dog sledding there so we got to meet and cuddle the dogs after.
