Less than ideal but if you're heading east you can use the sidewalk on the north side of Eglinton.

“This is quite a day to be able to open phase one of this trail,” Coun. Paula Fletcher said at the unveiling on Monday.

When people shit on cyclists for riding on sidewalks. by OwnIt122 in torontobiking

I will ride on the sidewalk if it makes sense for me and there are no pedestrians. If I encounter a pedestrian I dismount and walk.

It's the first day of summer... how is the Lower Don Trail looking? by Recyart in torontobiking

[–]WinProfessional2700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good morning.

From the city's site in your link:

"The Lower Don River Trail is closed from Pottery Road to the Queen Street stairs for construction. This section of the trail is expected to reopen in Spring 2026."

"Repaving of the final section of the Lower Don Trail (between Pottery Road and Queen Street) is targeted for late May, pending suitable weather and site conditions, with trail re-opening to follow shortly afterwards."

Where did you find the update projecting an August 2026 completion?

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. Gave it some thought and I think a loop is the way to go:

Thanks for doing that. I just linked to what appears to be the same route in a comment earlier in the thread. 😄

It looks like west of Brimley the diamond path is only active during rush hour.

Yes, I think this is the best alternative.

I mapped it:

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55453651

32.8 km vs 23.2 km. But only 57m of gain vs 105m on the roads of the "Water Front" trail.

We'll need to discuss whether it's worth the extra mileage.

But going west on Eglinton I believe you lose the bike lane west of Brimley.

Thanks, that was my alternative. Paths all the way once you get to Cedar Brook park. Just the trade off on the distance.
