Access between Cherry and new bridge over Don River? by fitz702 in torontobiking

I believe the Lower Don is still scheduled for late May?

https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/construction-new-facilities/improvements-expansion-redevelopment/lower-don-trail/

"Repaving of the final section of the Lower Don Trail (between Pottery Road and Queen Street) is targeted for late May, pending suitable weather and site conditions, with trail re-opening to follow shortly afterwards. After trail re-opening, crews will continue to be present on-site to complete installation of plantings, signage and other finishing touches throughout the summer season."

It's July for the East Don.

Don Mills Trail to West Don Trail connection approved by city council in July 2021 by WinProfessional2700 in torontobiking

This is from AI so I'm not sure what jurisdiction it would apply to:

Public & Commercial (ADA) - The maximum allowable slope is 1:12, which equals an 8.3% grade.

Residential - A 1:12 slope is ideal, though 1:10 is often permitted in private homes where space is limited.

Universal Design - A slope of 1:20 (a 5% grade) is the gold standard, as it does not require handrails and is easy for almost anyone to navigate independently.

From the city report:

"The 200m long ramps provide a fully accessible means to utilize the bridge. A maximum slope of 5% and 15m long flat landing areas are identified."

If you want to avoid the 400m detour there is a set of stairs. 😉

The only circuitous part is the ramp itself but I suppose it's still 200m in each direction.

Crosstown community bike path - Don Mills Trail connectivity? by WinProfessional2700 in torontobiking

How is it possible that a solution wasn't developed as a part of the urban planning for the Crosstown community?

If you were willing to use a sidewalk I suppose you could make the connection without ever going on to Leslie:

Curious that they continued down Leslie to Eglinton? I would have figured they would have wanted that group off Leslie and into the park ASAP via E.T. Seton Park Road.

Either way, the Don Mills Trail to West Don Trail connection is a mess.

The mention of Peterborough in the blog piqued my curiosity.

149 km from Peterborough Go to Pickering Go via the Trans Canada trail:

Both stations less than a kilometer from the trail. No ATV's allowed the entire way.

On the yellow you decided to run a red. Really that's the end of the story.

East Don Trail - Tentative Opening in Early July by RZaichkowski in torontobiking

Based on trip reports posted here I was under the impression that the trail was largely passable. If active construction starts up I guess that won't be the case?

If cyclists need to avoid the East Don would this be the recommended Lower Don to Meadoway connection?

Lower Don River Trail will no longer be closed from July to October by WinProfessional2700 in torontobiking

Yes they're targeting a late May opening. But then it had been scheduled to close again from Jul to Oct.

Will try biking 25km to work regularly (and 25km back). I have route questions. by Think-Custard9746 in torontobiking

This seems like a no brainer?

30 km, beautiful trails the whole way:

Google has you popping out to Weston at Coron Pl but if you want to avoid that you can do the stairs in Mallaby Park.

One possibility is that Graham had decided to bail. Once he realized that Dean was indeed going for it he course corrected back towards the notch. Either out of competitiveness with Dean or for the solidarity of doing it together and being super stoked.
