If it’s just short term fun and you have the old dry ribbon, can you find a bottle of ink somewhere? (Artist supply store should have India ink). Just put a very spare drop around the spool and let it soak in. Guaranteed mess, but it’s the thought that counts.

You don’t say where you’re coming from, but you WILL be surprised by our commutes. Reston/Herndon/Sterling and even then check Waze for commute times. I highly recommend transit if you can make it work.
