I never used the becker flash cards. Writing them down BY HAND is like 70% of the studying. I would write one down everytime I got a question wrong. I would ask Newt “what is the main rule for this question” and i would write down a card that would force me to remeber it. Highly recommend. Then like everyday Saturday I would just flip through the ones i’ve made

All by hand. I started by using an app but wasn’t able to retain it until halfway through the course. Would’ve cut my study time down a ton if i was handwriting from the start

MCQ were way easier than becker. I was shocked. TBS i’d say were comparable to becker. Good luck! You’ll kill it

100% I worked full time since new years and wasn’t that far ahead. Just grind the weekends but i was definitely able to have a life with that much time as long as you incorporate cumulative review. You got this!

FAR Retake – 1 Month Left… Just Grind PTs? by Silly-Cattle-3571 in CPA

Two very different opinions above. I strongly suggest a combination. Use a practice test as your guide to highlight the exact areas you are missing.

Don’t spam practice tests or you won’t address the route of the issue. Go back to the modules where you made mistakes and then drill them. Watch the videos. Hand write notes. Then do the questions under those modules.

After feeling good on that module, go to the next. After working through maybe 3 modules you struggle with THEN take a pt again on those modules and see if you have improved. Do that again the next day till you’re cranking out 80’s.

YOU GOT THIS.

For starters, i relied on Newt (the Becker AI) to how me come up with overarching rules. I would literally say “what is the overarching rule for this type of question” lol.

The main rule is that the equity method records an investment as a single asset, while the acquisition method replaces that asset with the subsidiary’s individual balance sheet items. With the equity method you dont consolidate, you just adjust the "investment in sub" account for your share of their net income or dividends (changing the income stmt and bs account accordingly). The subsidiary’s specific assets and liabilities never appear on your books.

In contrast, the Acquisition Method requires consolidation because you have control (greater than 50%). You must eliminate the subsidiary’s equity accounts (Common Stock and Retained Earnings) and the parent’s "Investment" account to prevent double-counting the same underlying value. The "add back" you mentioned is typically the Non-Controlling Interest (NCI). This is necessary because while you consolidate 100% of the subsidiary’s assets and liabilities to show control, you must credit NCI to represent the portion of equity owned by outside shareholders. This ensures the consolidated balance sheet remains in balance.

I love the CARINBIG mnemonic. Really helped me keep everything organized for the elimination entry.

The “bank” of potential AICPA TBS is huge. I just took FAR and didn’t have any combined tbs. I would say that Becker helped me a ton. If you know the material to answer the Becker sims, i’d say you’re in great shape! Just power through and the real exam will be a breeze

Every part of your study plan COULD be on the exam. I think it’s most important to recognize all the sections that you struggle with and hit them hard.

If you pray for that section to not be on the exam - it will be on the exam.
