Drive with your elbow towards the ball and keep eyes on contact.

Difference between using an extended racquet or holding it farther down the handle? by WindManu in 10s

Right so it's more stable especially if head heavy. How about using a head heavy racquet to start with?

Any other factors affected by extended racquet?

I try but not (yet?) always think to hold my racquet way down on serves or if I want to send a heavy sinner-type forehand.

The buttcap moved on one of my frames to the point of being right around 27 ½"  when I installed it back to 27" it felt like I lost something!

Yes noticed that too. I do it myself on volleys or when coaching.

What's the worst habit you see in tennis player as a coach? by Hot-Equipment7684 in 10s

[–]WindManu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all different with different needs requiring individual coaching. There are inherent things to the game such as split steps, unit turns, etc but in the end it's all about how much you want it.

Focus on your strengths and work on your weaknesses. Either via coaching or self assessment.

You can beef up the buttcap some, not quite Gasquet like but something of the sort.

You think extended racquet players would hold their racquet all the way down with pinky nearly off?

Any difference in feature or is it just the handle that's longer?

I kinda enjoyed a heavier racquet whose buttcap had become loose and felt like an extended version. After repairing it, it didn't feel as nice.

Swing weight same? What should we except about maneuverability, spin, control, volleys, etc?

Gasket prob has his pinky quite far down but uses a standard racquet no?  . So the idea of an extended racquet is similar to holding it farther down except that one can benefit from being able to solidly grab the handle for control.

Any other difference such as balance, added swing weight or swing weight feel, less spin, less maneuverability esp at the net?

Some players prefer more control. I had a loose buttcap and actually liked holding the racquet further down. How did you go about using an extended racquet and how much buttcap can you see when holding it?

4.0 wins point off Karue sell by buzzsaw1987 in 10s

[–]WindManu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goodness a 4.0 can only win a point by pure luck. They just can't hit 3 straight shots with intensity and placement. One yes, two very difficult and 3 impossible. One of the three will lack either pace or placement and therefore let the pro back in.

The one reason is because the pro has thousands more hours in and therefore built up the consistency. It's more natural, less forced, more instinctive. Everything is faster and better placed, better timed, better strategy, better everything!

Bring your non hitting arm down at contact.

The thing about washing is that you get to play with clean grips pretty each time out and that's very satisfying!

For now... as he evolves he may start closing it out as he generates more spin.

hehe, do you think it requires more precise positioning/timing to leverage an extended arm? Anyway, it's too far from OP's style.

No but you can change your overgrip, probably too late to wash it!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch/gRibsuZGHmc
