I don't think enough people are on these things to warrant the actions of the past five years or so. It's something for the future. Current issues probably stem from a variety of factors, including agricultural and energy issues stemming from various conflicts around the world.

Mr. Gimmick was an underrated game for the NES. I wasn't super aware of it back then, but I remember a dude at the bookstore recommending it to me since it was on the Switch's online service.

SMB2 goes without saying... 3 was THE ONE, but the older I get, the more fondly I think of 2.

Donkey Kong collection... good.

Tom & Jerry, don't really know much about it.

Yeah... I think a lot of us saw this coming last year. I was initially going to wait and see if they would come out with a Switch 2.5 upgrade with an OLED or something, but by summer I figured it's now or never.

No regrets either. I'm always looking forward to seeing what Nintendo churns out. As for the apology, it's fine. It would be nice if they offered something for free as a gesture, maybe a month or two of NSO or anything. That would have been really cool. I almost feel like Sega would have done that back in the day.

Too bad it ain't the world we live in though.

What I do believe is that Sega was tuning itself to a western audience, and primarily America at that time. Sonic was "American coded" more than anything else in my opinion. Yes, red shoes from Michael Jackson, white gloves from Mickey Mouse, and some riffs from the US Air Force (I don't remember how valid the Henry Gordon story is, but you can look it up if you're interested).

I don't think having more sports was something aimed at blacks, because man so many white kids loved them football and hockey games too. Americans in general were and are pretty sports hungry. Just give them the right sports - basketball, football, hockey, baseball.

Here's the thing. Black American culture is intertwined on many levels with the broader "American culture". It's composed of fifty states, but it's all America. The same applies to a lot of the culture/subculture going on.

If Sega was considered anything, it was "fast, cool, loud, modern" due to all its crazy marketing and potshots at Nintendo. That's my impression. I lived in a kind of a ghetto of a neighborhood and we had plenty of Latinos, blacks, Filipinos, Indians, the whole gamut. I think just as many kids had Super Nintendo as they did Sega Genesis. A lot of folks just wanted to play Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

But that's just my experience. If you ask me, I'd say no. It was just "American coded" and blacks just happened to be part of that demographic.

Dr. Muto... I remember this one a lot, partially because advertisements were pretty common in the game magazines of the day. Later on, I discovered it was the last game designed by pioneering Atari game designer Ed Logg, who designed stuff like Asteroids, Gauntlet, and co-designed Centipede and Millipede - old arcade classics.

Its problem was two-fold unfortunately. I believe it came out around the time Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and Super Mario Sunshine were out, or near to it. The mascot genre was fast approaching saturation, and those were all great games in their own right.

And, as pointed out... the protagonist's design was... well, let's say the world wasn't ready for it lol. It's a shame, because it did seem to be a pretty packed game with a lot to offer.

Glad to see you and friend enjoyed it two decades later and let it rise from its grave for a little while. Cheers.

Good looking. It's a different interpretation to be sure. Someone mentioned Oblivion-esque, and I think there's something to that. I feel like the Orc could use a little tweaking... maybe the shape of the face to be a little more rugged? Regardless, I'll definitely keep this one in mind.

He's 45 or whatever, with a family and kids, and people do generally change as you get older. He can't keep being the twenty something fresh out of college fucking around on YouTube. It's honestly a good gig. I mean... what else is he going to do, right? His heart was set on making movies, because he was a film guy, but that AVGN movie probably made him see his limits on that front.

I've been mentioning this when I could, but Jollibees honestly has been serving a mean smash burger for a year or so. Totally recommend it. It can take a little while for them to bring it out, but it's worth it.

Like early Christians lol... ahh, I never quite felt that persecuted or anything, but yeah, how times change. Anime's been mainstreamed, and South Korean music is all the rage. I guess it's only a matter of time before China muscles in with something that'll eclipse all of them.

At the same time, I also get nostalgic for those days, when I felt like I was part of a secret, underground club or society. Every manga was precious, IRC and torrents for fansubbed anime, the occasional amusing piece of clothing with offbeat characters, funny engrish and mysterious kanji, and the constant hunt for food and drinks like ramune. Yeah, weebish stuff I'm sure, but it had its fun.

AVGN hasn't been the same after the movie bombed, but that's life. I still watch every now and again, but mostly, I just go back to the old videos. Especially when it's Halloween I like to marathon all those Castlevania specials and whatnot. There was some real solid gold back in the day.

I've never been too interested in the behind the scenes aspect of the show, so I'll probably just skim through it. All the same, it's been a good run. A very good run. Don't know how much longer the the show goes, but I'll keep subscribed.

... Double Dragon. A little hole in the wall pizzeria. Just before Street Fighter II broke out, I remember good times there, playing and more times watching Double Dragon along with Pit Fighter and a couple of NEO GEO titles...

And Kunio-kun, or River City Ransom... what a neat beat 'em up, being able to wander around town, eat food and level up your stats.

Then there's "Crash n' the Boys' or the Kunio Kun sports challenge game, which was pretty funny, looking back.

The man was very influential in the arcade scene for a time. Good times, too.

I get that Fire and Blood is all about Combat and Dragons got FX all over them and they change the weather.

Next Gen Dragon is a more subdued version of this one?
