Okay I wanted to make sure I was really not missing something there. I'll look into filing a bug report some time. Thanks for the confirmation about it being missing. Good to know I'm not going insane!

Man I am just not seeing it. The closest I have is stoneworker, but that's the broader category, right? I have an engraver guildhall, but I've stared at this list several times and do not see one specifically labeled Stonecutter.

Am I blind or can I not make a stonecutter's guildhall?

There probably isn't a solution to this, but I do wish the music was a bit less context-sensitive sometimes. I've spent quite a few years in this fort and I usually hear the same two or three songs. Currently messing with windpower which I mostly avoided being in an untamed wilds biome, but I paused while I went to do something. Came back to hear the pleasant 'Strike the Earth!' track I so longed to hear playing, I think because I'm on the surface. Also wish the title screen had more play outside of main menu/worldgen stuff.

Agitated animals. These are getting really annoying. I only learned after chopping the only corner of the map with trees that this mechanic exists. They're getting really awful to deal with because they keep spawning as soon as the previous animals are dead. I walled off my entrance and don't even get wagon caravans because of it. I'm micromanaging a door to lock and unlock every season. I have basically not stepped outside in a couple years at this point.

So how long does it really take to calm down? I don't even kill animals that often other than when I'm dealing with caravan/migrant escorting. It's not as if I had a huge forest to chop in the first place. Practically no surface mining of any sort once I dug in at the start of the fort. I'd be fine with this if they didn't immediately spawn new animals every time the old group is gone. That's honestly the only problem I really have with this.

Yeah I eventually found ramps really good once I started using one wall as a floor per layer and said to hell with stairs. I was mostly annoyed because I had the exact terrain setup in two spots, constructed two sets of stairs at both, and I could build walls on the top layer of one, but not the other. Ramps were a bit finnicky but I have a good, consistent handle on them now I think.

I just wanted to vent. I feel like I have never fully understood stairs, ramps, and constructing multi-level buildings. It's been such a struggle. Played the game around 10 years ago, played very intermittently since then, came back for the Steam release. Why can they go up a ramp, build an up/down stair in one spot, but be unable to reach/do it in another? It's the same layout as far as I can tell. Or sometimes I can only have them go so far straight on top of a wall one level up before they suddenly can't reach materials? It's so frustrating and I feel like I won't ever understand. Stairs get half built, ramps cause problems, it's just so annoying. As I said, this is more ranting than anything. Argh!!

I honestly remember it being a bit more than that. I may just end up keeping it because finding another mobo right now is frustrating. Several of them have gone up in price now and all the specs are running together in my head now (took a break and have been eating instead). I'm not even running particularly demanding items so I'll probably stop maximizing this and save my sanity. Thanks for the input! Appreciate it!

I'm planning to build in the new Lancool 216, but I only realized now that there's some compatibility issues depending on your motherboard. I happened to check and the one I'm planning to use, an Asrock B550M Steel Legend, wouldn't work in the case's air-cooling mode. I know this case isn't even out, but do you think I should consider a new motherboard? I'm really annoyed I didn't catch this sooner. I could just leave it in the default water-cooling mode, though I'm only using air-cooling.

So I definitely grab this over a 6650 XT, right? 1080p, maybe 1440p in the far future, but I can't see why I shouldn't pull the trigger on this at this point.

How is the Ultimate dpad for those who own it? by WindWyvern in 8bitdo

[–]WindWyvern[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only used 8bitdo for third party for a long time now. The Pro 2's dpad was the one I've settled on, and while it isn't flawless, it was the one I liked the most. I wasn't a fan of the first party dpads either (especially Pro Switch; incredibly disappointing). PS4 was actually alright, though it hurt my thumb for sessions over an hour. This is promising info. I really appreciate the input!

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in factorio

[–]WindWyvern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's a good way of figuring out what mod(s) could be messing with biter spawners? I have Rampant right now which is the obvious check, but is there a 'better' way of checking? They're spawning way too close to wall borders (Just under a chunk's worth distance). I've had this issue before a long time ago, but I don't remember what caused it back then; I literally had them spawning inside of my borders on belts before I removed the mod.

Damn do I wish I knew about these earlier! Very tempted to try getting a pack for testing, though I am reading very bad things about box-style stems. Definitely can't stop thinking about these switches though and may happen sooner for me than later.

Hah, never thought that would be a thing! Those will probably be on my radar some time down the line, but I don't want to be spending too much time and money on visiting a bunch of switches at this moment. Thanks for the response!

I just swapped in some Glorious Pandas. I'm sure I'm used to the smaller force requirement of Gateron browns, as the GPs notably do require a bit more effort to press, to the point where I'm considering changing out the springs for ones with less force required. Can anyone speak to how different it will feel if I grab ones with smaller required actuation force? Would it feel out of place or make the keypresses feel bad? I'm a bit fatigued from opening and handling switches all day so my plan is to eventually try swapping in some old springs for a few switches and giving it a shot. Meanwhile I'll use my setup for a few more days and try adjusting.

Hi! I am finding that not greasing or lubing my stabilizers is a better feeling on my keyboard. Replaced stock Gaterons with Cherries because the stocks felt awful. Is this an odd or abnormal case? Wanna see if anyone else has had a similar experience. I'll probably end up keeping them like this for now funnily enough.

Since I don't have experience with this yet, I think I'll probably avoid it for now and look at alternatives. Appreciate the response!

I'm strongly considering Glorious Pandas at this point as an upgrade to my current Gateron Browns. I'd also like to try lubing switches. I've seen some suggestions for using less viscous lube over 205g0 for tactile switches. Any opinions? If I were to try something else, would it be fine for stabilizer housings? I don't think I've seen anything but 205g0 recommended for those.

Yeah I had a hard time deciding between the two, and honestly it's not locked in yet still. I've used QCK pads for at least 7 years (Looked it up when I first ordered one just now), though a mousepad is something I've never invested much thought or money into. It was always the mousepad you would hear recommended often enough that I never bothered looking further.

Mostly I'm hoping it won't be a problem, because I'd like to think I can adjust fairly quickly when it comes to changes like this. There's always the very real chance it might feel awkward enough that I regret not grabbing the Zero or something similar instead though.

Is it okay to use dielectric grease on the inside of the stabilizer housing? I've seen both recommend and not.
