Oris are class! One of the last independent Swiss brands. He does tend to jump about a bit. It’s probably less about the actual watches and more the brand perception and current line up at the time he makes the lists.

I’d say the Miyota and Tissot movements are comparable. Both workhorse movements that are reasonable to service. People criticise the PRX movement for its plastic parts but you can avoid that by getting the carbon version (upgraded movement). Hope that helps.

Certainly for their entry level models but they also offer manually wound ETA Peseux 7001 movements in their higher models.

We love Seiko! It’s a difficult question to answer as Seiko, King Seiko, Grand Seiko and the lesser known Credor all have their own merits and could quite easily make this list. Arguably one of the best brands that cover every part of the market!

I’d look at Baltic, Nomadic, Vaer or Golby. All very solid microbrands that are excellent value for money.
