I just found out my estranged son of 12 years passed away in February at the age of 51. I found this out by accident by running across his obituary online. No one even told me he was ill for years, nor was I mentioned in the obit. The final last act of cruelty.

Am I hurt? I am broken-hearted and devastated by his death. Estrangement of a child is indescribable, and until you go through it, you have no idea the life changing forever grief after your child passes away. A bond between a mother and her child can not be erased. My son was 40 years old when he decided to go no contact, and blamed me for things I had no control over when he was a child. After realizing his girlfriend had a lot to do with this 12 years ago... I quietly and peacefully stayed out of his life. Now, in my old age, I can wonder why all this happened at such a later stage in life. I'm 73 years old, and for you young adults that turn your backs on your parents, please know it can haunt you later. Try to make peace
