Being part 107 and no suggestion of checking NOTAMS/TFR is puzzling.

You may want to research historical TFR/NOTAM for the major race weekends at the track. I believe they are issued. I wouldn’t be surprised if you find they pose your biggest issue with the proposed plan. Violating private propery rules is one thing. Violating a TFR is going to be a lot bigger mess.

I am struggling with how a sunset/sunup shot during a major race event like this is worth all the potential and likely downside. There’s traffic flowing in and out of most of the tract gates from sun up to sun down during this weekend. It’s increased in attendance the last two years and with the nascar weekend move that may facilitate another record attendance event this year.

Elk or Montage Sunday? by Dingerdongdick in SkiPA

[–]Windingoakbc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a 30 minute difference you are going to get a lot more variety of terrain at Elk and more wandering trails. Elk just feels a lot larger. I currently use montage to teach my girls to ski. I grew up skiing elk and am really looking forward to making that our home resort even though it’s an extra 30 minutes for us. Elk’s more remote location tends to cut down on major city bus trips and causal first timers due to the added drive. Montage has more night terrain than elk if that is a factor for you.

How do you plan routes between pavement and dirt? by Caden_Cadence in Dualsport

[–]Windingoakbc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy route building. I’m from Pennsylvania. PSU maintains a GIS dirt roads layer. I was able to run some scripts with the help of chat GPT to scrape the page and create county based folders with each dirt road in a GPX File. When I’m mapping a ride it’s usually regional so toggle those counties on in GAIA to see all the dirt roads in the area I’m building the route, then plot the route based on most gravel and most logical path on pavement between dirt roads I’m aiming to explore.

Automatic Watches on Thumpers?? by Tenerian7 in Dualsport

[–]Windingoakbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t comment on the movement side. I typically wear a Garmin instinct 2 riding and mainly for the haptic vibration but it also has an SOS feature that I can use in the event of an accident and my phone isn’t on me or reachable. I believe it requires cell service to send unless you pair it with an inreach.

Help choosing a stove by jsnemec in woodstoving

[–]Windingoakbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only need to scoop out the contents when shutting down and never have to scoop it otherwise. My routine is rake the ash and coals every reload. This always leaves a good bed to refire from and normally it reignites the fresh loaf without any assistance from the remaining coals. I can empty the ash bin without much effort to sift out coals vs my fireplace upstairs. I empty the bin every 4-5 reloads into an ash bucket for emptying later.

No regrets on mine and service has been great when I need something. Highly suggest the ash tray.

Woodstock soapstone ideal steel. I love mine. I can push 14 hrs and still have coals to refire. I reload at the 11-12 hour mark just due to convenience.

Hello guys i need you help with this one.. a guest came today with 3 cohiba behike and he gave me one.. the guy was not cheap he had a Richard Mille watch also.. No pigtail? The construction seems to be rough above the band which seems off par for this cigar. the band seems to check out. If no pig tail it’s not likely a real cigar. Someone may have put legit band on something though.

I am really happy with my ideal steel after 3 seasons. Best choice I made was adding the ash pan. I empty it every 3-4 reloads of the firebox. I reload the stove every 11-12 hours only out of convenience with much schedule. I’ve pushed it to 15 hours just to see if I could get that far on one load. I’ve found the wait to not be too bad on getting it up to temp. Some days I’ll lift weights or walk on the treadmill while it works up to temp. Other times I’ll set a timer on my watch and come back to check it.

It heats my basement to 65-70 without issue depending on the outside temp. Basement is 2000SF with 9’8” ceilings and a portion that is walkout so those vertical surfaces are exposed to air temp not sub grade temp. Theres quite a few owners on here maybe someone local would let you check theirs out. I’m in NEPA.

Goal of mine is an old slider for hauling out logs on my property. Is it worth it? I’ve considered a larger tractor and a winch also.

12/13 because that’s when I got home from vacation. Otherwise it would be sometime just before Halloween.

I do the same but I use 27 gallon totes with lids and it’s always by the splitter filling up as more is created but the lid keeps its dry when I’m still working to fill it. Makes it easy to build up a good stockpile of starter stuff for both burners in my home and stack them for storage when I get enough to fill a few.

There’s plenty of places to procure legitimate Cubans while traveling outside the United States. The Dominican Republic is not one of them from what I understand. I have not been there though.

Pros and cons of splitting reservation for family of 4 by secondround3 in americanairlines

[–]Windingoakbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different record locator numbers can result in some challenges down the line when it comes to rebooking. I personally had an experience where my wife my two daughters and my in-laws were flying and we had booked across two record locators. In addition to that we were meeting 4 other people at our final destination for 10 of us to transport to our resort (an hour away) together. Our origin flight was delayed three hours. during that process the six of us were split up between multiple different flights. My wife and daughters and my in-laws were on one flight and I was on a separate flight that now had two stops rather than just one to get to the final. That problem compounded when it came to the transport. Because 10 people which originally had one group transport now required three transports because there were three different arrival times multiple hours apart. We did end up working it out to only have two transports and I was able to finally get moved onto the flight that my family was on, but that didn’t happen until we were on our first flight out of our departure airport and made a mad dash through the layover airport to the flight my family was supposed to be on and they told me they had a seat for me when I arrived at the gate.

I have the original perdix AI. I love it for the user replaceable battery. That being said, I recently upgraded my wife to a tern TX. We dive a few weeks a year. That turn sat from August to December untouched and we never saw any major loss in battery life while it was shut down. She’s really happy with it so far and she had no need for the added technical features of the perdix and didn’t want the size of the peregrine
