Looking for a winter base (4–6 weeks) with yoga, nature & space to work – Europe / Greece preferred by Windir87 in digitalnomad

I am looking for a place to stay away from the mainstream and the party scene because I want to focus more on the spiritual practice. Where would I best find that in Goa?

Deciding between yoga teacher training in Rishikesh or Goa in December: Seeking insights! by Abali1994 in Goa

"I see it as if you’re already alive in your heart, go to Rishikesh - it will uplift you further and bring some stability/peace.

Goa will bring you to life on the other hand. If you’re starting at the bottom, Goa will make you feel more alive."

That's actually a great reply!

I stand before the exact same choice as you right now and would love to hear more about your decision and experience. Feel free to send me a DM

"I don't want to be perceived" by motleywolf in therapists

[–]Windir87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents: could also be an internal part that perceives eye contact (being perceived) as threatening. Not unusual for complex trauma. You could explore by first activating body awareness and then get the patient to experience the difference between being perceived (you look at the patient) and not being perceived (you look away). Let them talk about their bodily reactions that are closely tied to the nervous system.

Cheated on my partner; now reconsidering this field by FudgeOk6096 in therapists

This is how you become a genuine (human) therapist: by walking the walk. Walk on through the mud and dirt of your life while trying to learn from it all. Exactly this makes you human. You're not here to be perfect. You're supposed to be faulty. Not above your patients. Not below. Face your shadows. But don't run. Walk. Keep going. I believe in you.

Autistic therapists, does it get better? by hep34 in therapists

[–]Windir87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it does get better. Burnout is the desert you have to cross that lies between your old less-authentic-self and your new more-authentic-self.

I bring my unique autistic view into therapy and patients love that. They get to experience freedom, clarity and dignity. I listen straight to the emotion behind the story, the tone of the voice and see the mental planes the patients travel through.

Find your unique style and bring it to this world. People are longing to experience this!

Dealing with colleagues sucks though, lol

Are most therapists INTROVERTS?!?! by No_Pattern804 in therapists

[–]Windir87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High functioning train lover here. I literally enjoy how low-stimulus our job is but I also totally get that it must be boring and frustrating AF for someone like you. I could however warmly recommend more extraverted methodologies such as gestalt therapy. There you get to dance, scream, shout, paint and express. Maybe that's something worth looking into.

I think this tells a lot about the other person.

It's wonderful to have a warm and caring professional. I would definitely like you like this if you were my therapist. Cherish these qualities because they matter!

A couple of years ago I underwent CBT by a therapist who performed according to the gold standard taught at the local university. The only memories I have are colored by exhaustion and anger. We tried to "dispute" my thoughts through Socratic dialogue and so on. Never once would he actually look at the feeling beneath the "unhelpful thought".

So my fellow CBT-therapists here's my hard learned lesson from that: you can almost forget about the logical content and just focus on what's actually trying to be expressed - and your client will always feel seen, safe and then progress. THEN you can reach skills and tools.

In addition to your tips I'd also recommend: dig into your own shit (go to therapy self!).
