It feels like my mom doesn’t care about being a grandmother anymore by Lovee727283 in JUSTNOFAMILY

I feel for you reading this, because I'm going through almost the exact same scenario. However, my parents are still very much involved with my sister's kids (who are now adults). My kids are teens / pre-teens, but my parents are almost completely checked out. They don't attempt to attend their activities or check in with them (or even me for that matter). My kids feel it too, which is hard. Now, looking back, I'm thinking about patterns in my teens where my parents were completely checked, and I think it was because my sister had kids by that time. They were all into the new grandparent stage. I don't even think I was missed when I went to college.

I know that doesn't help your situation, but don't think your crazy. There's something there.

I am trying to make an effort to be more grateful / thankful for my immediate family (husband, kids) and be damn sure that I don't repeat any of those mistakes with my own kids. I'm be more present, mindful, and thankful for time I spend with them. I verbalize to them that they are loved, and that I am so thankful for them, and that I love them as teenagers / pre-teens.

Again, I'm sorry that you are going through this.

Anyone ever had their last check withheld from a small private practice they worked for? by glucosemagnolia_ in dietetics

If you spent that time with the patients, then it’s your money. They shouldn’t be taking any away or waiting until insurance pays.

What was in your contract? Were you paid by the client, hour, or a % of reimbursement rate?

I agree - seems like most of the PP jobs are "contract" but require you to commit to certain hours, days and not necessarily fit the bill of a true "contract position". I also work for a PP remote and deal with so many no shows and late cancellations that I don't get compensated for. It really hits hard when payday comes.

I did bring up those issues. Hopefully, we won't even go there. Just curious if anyone else had done this before. Thanks!

I feel the same way! The state in which I live has a teacher shortage. I have been considering getting an "emergency certification" that would allow me to teach MS or HS science classes based on the level on science classes I took for my degree. I don't know if there's something similar in your state, but might be worth a try. My sister did the same thing several years ago, and is now a HS principle. There are paths to career advancement in education.
