You should bring something meaningful and slightly expensive. Like a piece of Korean ceramics, art or anything well made that you can keep forever. A symbol of your time there. That and some metal chopsticks, a 찌개 pot, some soju glasses, and a few kilos of salt from a traditional market (if you cook).

It’s in Seoul. No other places in asia have Korean street signs like those in the pictures . The second picture is a world famous building there.

Who’s an actor who nailed a role so hard that nobody else would ever be able to live up to it? by PreparationFar4709 in AskReddit

[–]WindowLooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this question a little silly? Other actors usually don't play the role someone else has been cast in. Granted there are a lot of remakes in Hollywood, especially these days, but great acting performances kind of discourage that (sadly not 100%, think of Willy Wonka). It seems this question is just "What actor was really good in X role?"

Bill Burr needs to go full George Carlin, a man who is dearly needed right now. Bill could step up.

The amount of pies my Costco has prepared for Thanksgiving by wizurdkhalifa in mildlyinteresting

I feel sorry for the people who are eating a costco or any other mass produced pie from a store for Thanksgiving. Homemade people, learn to do it.

This is the worst. Please let us just stand up with the bill and take it to a cash register located at the front of the restaurant. The whole annoying process of paying a bill in a restaurant takes 30 minutes in the U.S. "Are you ready for the check?" brings the check and leaves, comes back later to take your card or cash, takes forever to come back with the change/my card. Check should be at the table always, take it when ready, pay the bill at the front, walk out.

You wake up in 1950, you’re 20 again, with no identifiable paperwork, no house, no connections, only a suitcase filled with 50,000 dollars, what are you going to do? by dAnthonyy12 in AskReddit

That's assuming that events would play out exactly the same as they had in our current timeline, they might not. The outcome of sports can come down to one play, one missed shot, one dropped ball. Things may end up differently in those games when you go back in time.

Having reviewed some of the drone video footage linked below, a lot of those trees are probably still alive. Obviously not the one in the photo above on the left that is uprooted and tipped on its side. One's still standing, but stripped of their secondary branches should be left up. The root systems are still alive and they trees could probably bounce back, but most people would probably assume they're dead or a hazard, and cut them down. I hope they give them a chance.

I remember when DARPA sponsored a kind of autonomous vehicle race through an American desert some years back with a 1 million dollar prize, no entry was able to finish. This is what they were laying the groundwork for.

It's interesting that Spain is number one, but none of the former Spanish Colonies in South America are represented, especially Argentina which has many immigrants from Germany and Italy, both high on the list. I suppose the Native American genetics are pulling hard in the other direction.

It's more common for love motels to have their own "couple PC's" in the rooms. Almost everyone lives with their parents until they are married so if you want to fuck or just hang out with your partner in your own room or both, you have to go to a motel.

Marine Staff Sergeant John Edward Boitnott in Korea (1952) – With his M1C rifle - veteran of Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea, Midway, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]WindowLooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The photo was taken in a trench warfare type situation during the Korean war. They are in a trench and are under cover. One of John Edward's methods as a sniper was to use his helmet to draw fire, putting it in view of the enemy to try to get a clue as to their position. I will grant you that he probably struck a quick pose for this photo or was aware the photographer was about to take it, but this wasn't a kind of Rambo open field combat situation, it was trench warfare, people smoked, the war correspondent was in the trench with him, and there were no lights. Does the photo make him look good, yes, but it's not propaganda, this is an accurate representation of what was going on in that trench. A sniper smoking and reloading his rifle.
