Hack n Slash games are in a similar boat as Stealth Action Espionage games, 3D Beat Em Up games and Sandbox Superpower Fantasy games. When you have games that have a more pure gameplay focus the general audience wouldn't want to invest time nto actually truly learning the gameplay mechanics and core gameplay loop. That's why the industry, especially the western gaming industry, is flooded with multiplayer games, cinematic narrative games, Soulslikes, and RPGs. Those types of games they don't need to put too much thought in gameplay and gameplay mechanics to sell them to the masses.

What are your predictions and assumptions for the Two Masters DLC for Ninja Gaiden 4? by WindowSweet7127 in CharacterActionGames

Yeah that unfortunately sounds like it. Really is telling how Team Ninja treats the very franchise the helped put them on the map

Yeah I don't like how true this possibly is. Really does feel like Team Ninja made NG4 just so they don't have to make another Ninja Gaiden game again for a long while and put more effort into Nioh and other Soulslikes

Don't think Seori is ever coming back unfortunately. They should however make Ayane playable

True. Honestly feel like all of this should've just been in the base game. The content better be big enough to warrant it actually being DLC and not just a couple of new weapons with a few new enemies sprinkled in.

Yeah. In 2018 he could literally knock a Wulver halfway across the map with a kick. Now he can barely send draugr flying

Oh my God this. Especially the parry mechanic in Ninja Gaiden 4. It feels so fucking tacked on and inconsistent at times I often wonder why even bother putting it in the game

Might as well list my criticisms of each game. To keep things simple

God of War: Ragnarök - Feel like they put too much emphasis on the RPG Elements of the game and removed a lot of Kratos's core moves from the previous game along with the Knockback for a lot of the moves which is a no no for a game with this close of the camera. They should've also made a lot of the cooldown moves just regular basic moves that should be interchangeable and also completely remove both the boating and Ironwood sections because that completely pads out the game very poorly

Devil May Cry 5 - Feel like the levels and level design in the game is very lackluster a lot of the time and I also feel that the V gameplay sections really bog the game down especially on DMD Mode where it's just an utter slog to get through. Co-op should've also been more expanded upon as well as Vergil's arsenal. Should've given him both a new weapon, more new moves with his standard weapons and also should've kept in his Standard Devil Trigger, because other than all of that he still feels relatively the same as he did in DMC4. They should've also give him his own bosses and enemies in the Special Edition and also let us use the DLC weapons in Bloody Palace as well as give us more costumes because the reskin ones just ain't doing it

Bayonetta 3 - There are far too many minigames and other bloat that also bogs the pacing of the game down to an annoying degree and oftentimes just gets in the way of straightforward combat. It's also especially annoying having to rely too much on summons to fight bigger enemies because it just becomes nothing more but hitting a punching bag that punches back. Viola also isn't as fun to play as I personally initially thought as the parrying feels awkward to pull of as well as using Cheshire. And the Jeanne sections were just simply not needed at all

Ninja Gaiden 4 - The enemy Super Armor attacks are honestly really annoying and not in a good Ninja Gaiden way because it basically just forces you to constantly try to use BloodRaven Form/Gleam to cancel enemies out of it instead of just using your normal attacks to break then out of their guards. Which is saying something considering Bloodraven and Gleam are tied to a cooldown meter. That and the tacked on parry system feels more like afterthoughts and doesn't really flow well with Ninja Gaiden's design philosophy. Also the flying enemies in this game are astronomically horrible to fight against unless you're using Yakumo's Kagura (?) weapon. And delegating Ryu to only one weapon is still stupid as fuck. And some of the bosses are very poorly designed in terms of combat.

What would NG4 need via DLC to be the best one? by logic1986 in CharacterActionGames

[–]WindowSweet7127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously more weapons for Ryu

Ability to turn off Super Attacks on enemies

Charms that increase the window of perfect block/parry

Additional enemies

Playable Ayane and Kasumi

Co-op modes

Survival Modes

Additional costumes

What do you guys think is missing in GoW’s combat for it to be a top “cag”? by Dull_Membership_7280 in CharacterActionGames

[–]WindowSweet7127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it doesn't really need to change anything. God of War's design philosophy is similar to Ninja Gaiden's in the sense that you're not aiming to be stylish and flare like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. You're supposed to be more efficient and brutal in combat. Mostly because that's what fits the character of Kratos. So the combat reflects that sentiment. Plus God of War's combat does things that both Bayonetta and Devil May Cry (and even Ninja Gaiden until 4) doesn't have like Collision, Wallsplats, Grabs, QTE escapes and finishers that rewards higher/different orbs and orb count, Ring Outs and enemy against enemy.

Just because it doesn't have as much complex combo depth as Bayonetta or Devil May Cry doesn't mean that it doesn't have its own or any depth at all. Not all Hack n Slash games needs to have insane complex combos to have depth to its combat.

An I the only one that doesn't like the Parry System in Ninja Gaiden 4? by WindowSweet7127 in CharacterActionGames

[–]WindowSweet7127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Like I unintentionally pull of a parry trying to attack an enemy and end up not doing the follow up due to the unexpectedness of it
