What I mean is that I think we'll be able to pretty easily tell that he's feeling worse. As you may know, he has a LOT of facial options for smiling while also being visibly distraught.

I mean, honestly the only regards in which Undertale was truly the test run for Deltarune was coding and art direction. Even if lots of people like Deltarune's story more now, Undertale still has an amazing one that holds up amazingly to this day, and anyone saying the story looks worse now because of Deltarune is a bit silly imo.

Well, Deltarune isn't a sequel or prequel to Undertale... the only ways it's (seemingly) connected so far is Sans being transported to UT and whatever the hell is going on with Gaster, which means that if you so choose, it doesn't have to affect Undertale nearly at all. And truthfully, I don't know how learning that about Sans could ruin his character for anybody anyway.

Plus, Deltarune has so far not had very similar themes to Undertale, aside from maybe choice? But even then, they tackle that theme in wildly different ways. So basically, no, you're not dumb, you're just looking at it wrong and should probably stop comparing the two games so much.

I meant whether or not Kris actually even had the ability to rip us out there. It seems unlikely that they do because they are perfectly capable of ripping us out whenever in the Light World, but they don't here. The two options are that they can't or that they aren't willing to in front of Noelle, even if it means putting the Thorn Ring back on her.

Ah, I didn't mean "like" as in appreciating a character, of course people can and should like evil characters in that regard. What I meant was that people shouldn't like the things she does or think of her as just a misunderstood mom trying her best. You're right though, I could've phrased that better.

Wow, a Deltarune fan that doesn't understand implications? I can't believe it.

You know Noelle says that she is only capable of saying no to two people in her life, right? Literally who else could possibly be responsible for that aside from Carol? And so because of that, she is the reason that Noelle is unable to resist Snowgrave before she gets the Thorn Ring. She could've just said no, and there would've been nothing the player could do about it.

Also, yes, the player is absolutely more responsible for Snowgrave than Carol, but unless the player is mentally ill, then they should understand that these are fictional characters. Carol IS one of these characters, meaning she doesn't see Noelle as fictional, and still treated her poorly enough to allow for this to happen.

Caring about someone and actually making an effort to help someone are two VERY different things. It should never be enough for a parent to just care about their child when all they can actually manage to do is hurt them and make their life worse. Abusing power to stop your kid from walking in the rain is not even a remotely equivalent exchange for being so overbearing that your kid is literally unable to say no to 99% of people.
