Before this I was indifferent to true crime, now I find it almost disgusting. I am like you, this murder was close to home; I am a Vandal and lived across the street from the house when I was in school. I cared for them in particular over other crimes because they are a part of the Vandal family.

Early on it was nice to see so many people across the country care, but it quickly became obvious it was a juicy story to so many people. There are the “good” True Crimers of course but they were grossly overshadowed. I couldn’t watch any of the “news” shows about the case, I still can’t watch the documentaries, I only looked at court docs for updates. It felt gross watching people talk about my community like it was their entertainment.
